Adam F Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 As you may have gathered, I'm planning to fish Anvil on Thurs for ze' Tope. However I am going it alone, and Im not too sure about the conditions, bearing in mind I'm only 16.5' long. 1.) They are massive spring tides 2.) I will be fishing the ebb 3.) The forecast varies from F2 in the am to F5 afternoon depending on who's forecast you look at. What do others think? Last time we had neaps and f1 with glorious sunshine......not too sure about this time? Id really appreciate a view from the regulars who fish around that area. Quote
Maverick Martin Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 Adam Re the weather I would wait until wednseday eve to make a decision . If I were you I wouldnt go that far if the forecast was more than a 3/4 and give it serious consideration if the winds are southerly to easterly. If there is west or north in the wind you can tuck in close for some shelter whilst traveling. If the tides are as big as you say they are the fishing will not be that pleasant, you will struggle to hold bottom with less than a kilo of lead Martin Quote
shytalk Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 the best of the tope is on the 120ft contour which is about 3 miles south of the light on a spring you will get about an hour either side of slack when fishing is sensible after that get out the sash weights !!!!! Quote
Paul J Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 Thinking of fishing freshwater bay for Bass on Sunday opinions on this one would be welcome Quote
shytalk Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 good idea i even thought about givin my tub a run over there but cant seem to find any sandeels Quote
Bob F Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 ...and if the Bass aint biting, look for the small rock pinicles just out fromt he bay. We had some cracking pollack drifting over them on Sunday using sandeel-like feathers. Quote
Swainiac Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 Fished the bay for Bass, drifting with joeys and sandeels, largest bass went 5lbs, so theyre only ickle ones, a few pollock showing too, farther out. Also had some good Rays...........I'm out there again Tuesday next, will let you know how I do Paul Regards, Rich Quote
