Well the long range forcast (Wind Guru) is looking good so this is the final call to confirm who would like to represent PBSBAC at the Burnham on Sea competition.

This is a great trip and an opportunity to bag a few thornbacks as well as conger, dogs, Bass, Huss and even the odd codling.

Anyone who hasn't been before, rest assured you will get all the support you need, know one will be left on their own.

Booking in is from 9.30am, with fishing from 10 to 5.30.

Parking for car and trailer is only

I am unfortunately off to Sweden the following morning, so shan't be able to make the trip weep.gif

I can, however, fully recommend this to anyone with a trailed boat. You will be given a buddy boat from the Burnham Boats to show you how to avoid any pitfalls ( and if you are lucky where to catch some fish ! ).

Catching Thornback Rays is like fishing for dogfish and it is great fun.

COME ON GUYS!!!!!!

We know we have a good proportion of trailer boats in the club. We have had at least 6 boats each year we have been up, this year just 2!! ohmy.gif

Give Gordon some support and come and represent your club - I practically promise you a good day's fishing!

If it helps, I'm happy to tow any boat up to 1.5t up and back free of charge, provided you can get it to Blandford.

Who's next??

Hi everyone my name is Richard and i am new to this site (as a poster) and also new to small boat angling.

I have been charter fishing mainly the south coast for over 20 years and recently bought a seahog commodore with family members. our boat is kept at burnham where my parents have moved to and we joined the b.b.o club. We have found the club to be superb and every member is only to keen to help. we have only got our boat out about 4 times this year due to dodgy weather but we were out sunday and had a good day with congers, rays, whiting and a doggie.

Basicly if you can make it up to Burnham then go you will be made very welcome and the fishing should be o.k. Unfortunately i have a charter booked out of Lymington on Saturday or else i would be there.

good luck all who go.

sorry guys, i can't make it this time as i have to be at work for 3am on the following day and it will make a bit of a long day for me. For all those hanging in the wings if you go you will have great day with plenty of fishy action if last year was anything to go by.

have fun

Pretty dissapointing for Gordon trying to pull this togther.

At the moment I think he has just other boat - Jojo, so a grand total of 2 boats representing PBSBAC.... wink.gif

Not withstanding those who cant make it due to other arrangements, I'd be interested to know why other members who trail dont fancy the trip?

Hi, Small Fry will not be going, Due to: 1) other commitments and 2) my Warrior 165 is a bit big for my Hyundai Lantra to pull all that way.

I did see the offer of a free tow but am not able to go this year.

Good luck to all who do get out.

Would love to go.....but have family commitments; if it was 'blown off' to another date, I'd be there [to improve on my first trip last year!]...[Great Day out; excellent and very different experience from our fishing!]

A few years ago it was an earlier date..... and in the middle of our slack spell; perhaps the prospect of the bream here is a disincentive to travel [??]

Whatever happens this year........please don't scrub the fixture for following years;

I'll be there next time........but how about a March date?

O/k, I am supposed to be at a family lunch at my brother-in-law's but I can't see us looking shabby in front of our Burnham hosts so, if there's anybody who would like to crew, Stingray will go. Failing that, I will try to get crew locally.

Now I must just explain it to Dilys.

Only slight snag for crew is that they will either have to make their own way to Burnham or get a lift as I'm starting in Oxfordshire. It should be worth the effort though as the met is looking reasonable and, if like last year, there should be enough fish about to keep us happy.

I've been working hard to get out of family comitment on Sunday and now officialy have permision to do what I like ph34r.gif

I would like to offer a place to any club member wishing to accompany me on Stargazer - preferably someone with half a clue so we might be in with a chance of catching something ! biggrin.gif

So there are 2 boats looking for crew now. I am almost tempted to go on one boat but would be a bit too tired with having to leave home next morning at 4 AM.

Still tempting mind. Surely 2 club members without a trailed boat would jump at this chance ?

Personally, I was considering - and lots of offers of a free tow was also tempting-

There's probably a good reason why its on a Sunday, but for those with early starts Monday, its not good arriving back knackered and late, with a boat full of smelly gear to tidy up. Also Sunday is still traditionally a day of rest rather than play.

My wife cant stand the 'rod rattling' and disappearance for many hours beforehand which heralds the start of any fishing trip, so it was a non starter in my case....its all down to brownie points.. and to put it bluntly, I'm "nil pointe" weep.gifweep.gif

Now Saturday... might have been a possibility...

Paul,

I know what you mean, Saturday may round up a bigger crowd for trail-aways in the future. I am certainly not looking to Monday morning but then again it will hopefully be worth it!!

I'm really looking forward to getting out there to some new waters.

The first two times we were invited to join the Burnham Club to fish with them on a freindly match in their Program.

As the other post says Its hard to call which is the better day, sometimes preparing on Sat to fish all day Sunday messes up the whole weekend for the FPO

But I am sure that if we fished all day Sat, preps would be on Friday night, Fish Sat, Clean up Sunday. Not sure if that is worse, it sounds it.

I tried to encourage a few of the comps on a saturday not just because its the best day for me but there will be others where Sunday is a family day. Anyway there are one or two comps this year have been booked for a saturday so it will be interesting to see if we get a good representation

Right, as nobody seems to want to keep me company on Stingray (note to self; must change deodorant) I'll revert to plan A and go for the free lunch. Good luck to those who are going.
