Coddy Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Well my replacement boat, Lady Christine, has arrived home from Scarbough North Yorkshire. She was collected by a company called Boat Loads and would recommend them. She was collected on Wednesday and delivered and launched into Holes Bay Friday evening. She was due Thursday but due to the wind and other issues I delayed the delivery. She is a Romany 21 with a panning hull, a Ford desiel inboard and Volvo leg which should push her along inexcess of 20kts. Whith a little spit and polish (coat of paint), she should be almost ready to go. I have a few safety bits to buy but hopefuly nothing major. All we need now is the weather! Coddy Quote

Maverick Martin Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Nice one Dave. These Romany boats used to be made in Poole at Holton Heath on the way to sandford. The works are still there but is now divided and let to numerous small businesses. I remember as a lad drooling over the 21 and the 23 footers. I believe they made boats up to 30' with one 30 footer still in Poole being moored off Brownsea. Mad Mike will probably have a better recollection than me as I think he once owned one Martin Quote
bootlegger Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Nice one, always did like Romany's, tough as old boots. Well done Tim Quote
duncan Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 (edited) looks like a proper boat Dave - I am sure she will give you hours of pleasure (and a little pain!) can see you in that cockpit fighting a conger already.......... ******************************** Harry, To post an image 'as is' you need to have the picture hosted somewhere on the internet already and then you click on the IMG button above the box when you are posting and copy and paste the address of the picture into that box. You can upload images into your PBSBAC gallery by clicking on the Photo Gallery link at the top of each page - extreme right - and following the upload instructions. Best upload file at around 600 x 400 pixels up to 800 x 600 and saved to a quality to give about a 100kb file size. Dave's are at 800x600 each above. When you are copying the url (address) of the picture to put in a post make sure you have it open at the size you require as it will offer you 3 different sizes in the gallery by default. pm me if I can help at all. Harry S Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Thank you Duncan. Sounds a bit complicated - I'll stick to the 'click on thumbnail to expand type' as it took me a while to master that one! Regards, Harry Quote

Coddy Posted April 19, 2008 Author Report Posted April 19, 2008 Thanks Guy for the comments, I was not "fishing" for complements but just as a matter of interest. I have attached the 1971 brochure pictures. I am interested in trying to find out a bit more history of the boat if I can, Mad Mike has advised me a bit about the old works, so I will do some digging about. Coddy Harry, to upload pictures and get them to a suitable size I use Photobucket. Just sign up, its free, and upload any pictures you want. It is simple, has to be for me to use it! As believe it or not after finishing my boat I've got withdrawal symptons. I've got a really good contact for well made and very reasonable camopies if you need one. PM me and I'll send you my mobile number. In the meantime me and Dan are looking to go ut next Sunday, if Lady Christine is not ready and you want a day out let me know. Tim Quote
