well it was a quiet day with whiting and one 51/2llb cod to my crew mate.

looks like a lot of people had the same idea with the forecast, there were between forty and fifty boats out there.

well done to those that had better results.

cheers andy

Hi Andy,

We weren't too far away from you.....and in shouting distance of AWOL and Enticer.

At one point I counted over 50 [!!] boats ... with a lot close to us.

We had action from the off...... with a spotted ray first, then two cod [similar size to yours] before the whiting action started. Whiting coming in all sizes, so there were some nice ones going in the box!!

Fortunately, only a few dogfish today........I don't mind the abundance of pout; I think it's a sign there could be cod about!!

Looks like the weather is quickly turning windy again...... ao when [??] to get out next?

I did a 360 and counted an amazing 69 boats within sight of our position and most of them seemed to be catching cod. I think Enticer must have been the only boat out there that didn't catch one, but I'm looking forward to Whiting for tea tomorrow night. Many thanks to Gordon for the trip out and providing the bacon sarnies and this time I cant blame Fugazi for scaring all the fish away!

Two codling and an abundance of good quality whiting for Stingray. Some pout but no dogs whatsoever. What a difference a week makes. Beautiful day, good company and whiting for supper tomorrow. All's right with the world.

Charlie A and I got to Mudeford at 9:20 ish after a lazy breakfast of Bacon and Egg sarnies! The slip way was totally iced up, as if someone had launched and left water to freeze all over it (The Gordon's I believe!!!) - anyhow we had to hand launch JoJo, though it was more like we were being towed down the ice runway with the trailer taking the lead!!!!

We left the run to find a flat calm and welcoming sea.

Charlie and I sneaked out of my agreed range to join everyone else near the Needles (a travel speed of up to 26knts made it less than 20 mins from Mudeford!!). We spotted Alfresco straight away and had a quick chat - Neil mentioned our late arrival, but as we only missed dogs and pout we didn't mind!!

We got in to a few dogs on the slack then I picked up my first EVER winter cod of 9lb3oz on a single squid bait, action with Whiting (a few plate sized ones) and Pout picked up as the flood built. I picked up a codling of 3lb 9oz on a tiny sliver of squid on a size 1 hook whilst trying to catch whiting!!!!

Charlie managed a nice plump Whiting of 2lb + to give a nice selection in our coolbox.

Quick blast home against a great sunset, where we met Enticer on the Slipway.

A great day out on the water.

12lb 8oz cod to PJ on AWOL and some nice whiting to 2lb 8oz plus a spotted ray.

We were then circled by a trawler pulling up his net.

Eventful trip back as AWOL had engine problems, so towed back to Poole by Serenity.

Lovely weather to be out and thanks for the trip martin.
