mickburder
I have an Eagle FishMark 500c that will not turn on, checked the power to the unit all seems OK. Has been working fine until this weekend. Can anyone recommend a service or repair centre, Navico said send it in and they will part-exchange it, but I would rather have someone look at it first, credit crunch tactics! thanks Mick
Jim
when i bought small fry, the gps and radio would not fire up, a multimeter confirmed 12v supply was present. it turned out to be corrosion on the switch contacts. 12 volts coming through but no umph ! try re routing a clean supply of power. great white
MES at Poole could look at it But it depends on the Part Ex costs, as these guys hourly rate is high, I would follow Jim's advice first if you can, contacts plugs are always a weak link. or hope that a Member with the knowledge would be able to help. Good luck Charlie
Coddy
Hi Mick As others have said I would check all wiring is 100% as the salt water enviroment is not good on any wiring on a boat. Switch/Contact cleaner may help on the plugs and pins. Might also be worth having a paperclip to ensure that there is no green growth on the plug or pins. The clip will help to clean the plug contacts if you GENTLY push an end into the plug contact. I think there was a repair agent in Wareham/Swanage area but I don't know if they look at Eagle/Lowrance units. Tom Bettle would know whom I mean if you PM him. Hope you get it sorted Dave Edited May 26, 2009 by Coddy

plaicemat
As my old chartplotter is u/s, I decided to chase this up. I contacted the Service Centre on behalf of the club and received the copied email in response. Hope this helps other members. Terry, Thank you for your interest, yes we can indeed repair most manufacturers and in many cases carry out repairs directly for them and their distributors or dealers. I have attached our company details and we would be happy to offer a discounted labour rate of Edited June 9, 2009 by Maverick
plaicemat
BTW, the flyer is in colour and opens in Adobe so I don't think I can get it on here. Unless someone can tell me differently. Terry.

plaicemat
Deep joy! My previous Lowrance chartplotter, which was about 2 years old, ceased to function in as much as it wouldn't completely fire up so I replaced it with my current combined unit. Upon reading the above, I obtained some switch/contact cleaner, sprayed it in the appropriate holes and; bingo! Up and running as before. mickburder
Same again!, plugged in the repaired fish finder yesterday, unit came on only to go off again immediately, that was a waste of 66 quid! Not the fault of Service Centre I must now get the electrics checked out. The VHF and the chartplotter work OK, very odd. To top it all off we have now got a lot of water coming into the hull on the boat through a crack in the hull where the rollers on the trailer sit. I have put a new post on hoping someone knows a man who can fix it?
