Fish may only be weighed in on production of a valid entry ticket Competitors may use two rods only with a maximum of one hook per rod (pennell rig counts as one hook both hooks must be in the same bait). Minimum fish sizes will be that stated by the NFSA Wessex Division The fish recorder Quote
Mike Fox Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 With the confusion over the NFSA and the Angling Trust, could I ask that the specimen sizes that will apply for this competition to be posted here, please? Thanks, Mike Quote
alun j. Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 Mike, If you click on 'Club records', above, it gives the specimen weights that we still use. Alun. Quote
Maverick Martin Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 Alun Thats club records and not specimen sizes. I have a copy in excel format but havent had time yet to edit to fit on here. All entrants will receive a copy of the wessex specimen sizes on the day. Martin Quote

Mike Fox Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Can someone please advise whereabouts in Cobb's Quay registration and weigh in will take place? Also, is there a temporary mooring available close to the weigh-in, does anyone know? Am not sure I can manage to fish with Frisky....I have to wait for a bridge lift - say 4.30, and at 6 knots it's a good 15 minutes to tie up in my berth. Dropping and running from there means I will be very close to the 5 p.m. weigh-in limit! I can get through the 7.30 a.m. bridge ok, and register with Poole Sea Angling, but if I have to get back on the 2.30 bridge for example, my range becomes even more constrained. Shame, cos I have a cunning plan! Mike Quote
Gas Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Shame, cos I have a cunning plan! Tel me your plan and i will tell all my harty. Quote
Maverick Martin Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 registration and weigh in is by the club house Martin Quote
Mike Fox Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Thanks Martin ! and Craig.....you should know now you can follow me if you like....at 6 knots!!!! Mike Quote
great white Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Mike I hope to unload [if we have fish to weigh] at the Quay or Yacht Club and dash my car to the weigh in. Unless things have changed, as long as you are in the queue for the scales by 1700 you are OK. That should help your cunning plan Charlie Quote
Gas Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Thanks Martin? he may of fell for the con. Mike youre, right it Quote
Neal Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 To solve this potential problem - we will discuss tonight at the meeting. It will be my intention to possibly keep the scales open for an extra fifteen minutes. This will only be possible if people phone ahead before 5.00pm and confirm they are between the bridge and Cobbs Quay - this will not be an excuse for adding an extra fifteen minutes to anyones fishing time. If this is agreed then a telephone number will be posted tomorrow - but it may not be agreed! Neal Quote
Jim Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 So ! - - - - We've all got a plan for Sunday - - - - - - - Follow Neal. Should be quite a sight. 30+ boats all following Court Jester to the " secret Marks " - - Big thanks to the Organisers Jim Quote
Neal Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 Jim, You have got it all wrong............I intend to drift about aimlessly and see what happens I havn't got a clue what to "target" or where to go, not only that, as I will be booking people in - I will be one of the last to go out! Good luck everyone Neal Quote

great white Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 I believe that last night it was stated that the scales will close at 1715 anyone in the queue by then would be OK. Please confirm that this is correct. I have no intention to be that late. but if the bridge is up for a long period at 1630 it could not only affect boats getting to Cobbs but also cars on route to the weigh in. Charlie Quote
Mike Fox Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 (edited) When reviewing the Specimen weights sheet for eligible species as handed out at the meeting last night, I noticed that the sharks have sensibly been removed... ..but so has Cuckoo Wrasse....! My cunning plan must have been leaked! To avoid co-conspirators being falsely accused, lashed to the mast, and flogged with wet celery, could I ask a quick question - was this an accident, and what else has been removed, please? If accidental, could new versions be made available for Cobbs/Poole Sea Angling collection, if possible? Thanks, Mike Edited September 4, 2009 by Mike Fox Quote
