pirky Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Hi Paul or Martin... Have read the basic registration for comps info in early "pinned" topic by Paul D but have to ask....... 1) when does the comp start and end....or is it a midnight to midnight day long affair? 2) Is there a time limit on registering the catch on the fish recorder? 3) do we need to photo confirm catches? 4) does the two on a boat rule apply ? 5) is there an area restriction or is it clubs waters and if so what constitutes Club Waters? Soz if all these are answered if I had read the right post or something !! Dave Quote
Brian Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 (edited) Dave No doubt I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but I read it as: 1. Any 7 hour period between 06:00 and 18:00 4. 2 on a boat applies to all club comps 5. Club waters are between the longtitude that passes through St Catherines Point and the Longtitude that passes through Portland Bill and south to France. Edited October 5, 2009 by Brian Quote
Paul J Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Hi Dave, We are working on having the rules published in an area of the Website so in future people can reference them. Ill answer best i can, it's Adam our comp sec who's really the best source but im sure everyone will chip in and correct me as required. 1-Times are usually 6am to 6pm 2- can't remember but it's definatley before the next meeting 3 - no it's done on trust 4- 2 on a boat applies for comps 5- club waters are Potland bill to st catherines point PJ Quote
Brian Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 We are working on having the rules published in an area of the Website so in future people can reference them. That would account for why I couldn't find the rules anywhere. Quote
Rob Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 I think there is \ was a pinned topic somewhere but it is a nightmare to find!!! I think it should be pinned under "Club Talk" or similar. Mr Admin, is that possible? Thanks Rob Quote
Maverick Martin Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 I think there is \ was a pinned topic somewhere but it is a nightmare to find!!! I think it should be pinned under "Club Talk" or similar. Mr Admin, is that possible? Thanks Rob Show me where it is and I will move it Martin Quote
Coddy Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Here are the basic rules COMPETITIONS WILL BE FISHED INSIDE CLUB WATERS [WEATHER PERMITTING] AND ARE FISHED FOR OVER ANY SEVEN HOUR PERIOD BETWEEN 0600AND 1800 UNLESS SPECIFIED THIS IS TO ALLOW MEMBERS TO ADJUST THIER FISHING TIMES TO SUIT TIDES, LAUNCHING ETC. ALL COMPETITIONS CAN BE FISHED WITH A TOTAL OF THREE HOOKS [Pennel Rigs and Trebles hooks count as ONE] AND A MAXIMUM OF TWO RODS [One & Two hooks per rod if using two rods]. NO OTHER RODS ARE TO BE IN USE WHILE FISHING THE COMPETITIONS. Dave Long range forecast is looking lumpy at the moment, 2m swell and 17kt Westerly winds, but knowing what the forecasters are like it may well change. Quote
Adam F Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Looks like I'm too late on this thread - has already been answered correctly. I havent put a list of entrants up yet as the long range is looking crap. Quote
Brian Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 I havent put a list of entrants up yet as the long range is looking crap. Hope the weather improves, I've got my pass for Saturday, so it's going to be my first comp. Quote
alun j. Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Forecasts I'm looking at give a much better day on Sunday...........might it get postponed to Sun ??? .... or does the idea of a Sat comp over-rule that and bump it on to another Sat.?? Alun. Quote
Adam F Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 Nope, if Sun looks OK then I'll move it a day to Sun. Keep and eye on here. Windguru still shows F4/5 NW Quote
pirky Posted October 6, 2009 Author Report Posted October 6, 2009 Hi lads Glad I wasn't the only one struggling !! Thanks for the info ...... Like Brian .......I will be struggling to make Sunday so lets hope the weather window shifts a bit. Dave Quote
alun j. Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 How ironic !! Forecast now shifyed back to a better Sat !!! Looking like top of F 3 ..... but W, so shelter if needed Are there still plaice in the Swash this time of year ?? Alun. Quote
petesnr Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 No really cold nights yet so there still should be plaice in harbour and Swash Quote
great white Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 OOPs Wendy is back on Sunday, better for me on Sat but if required could start early Sun and just do 7hrs and get home early. Charlie Quote
Maverick Martin Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 Dean and I will fish this one whatever day its on Martin Quote
Wedger Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 Otter may be out but only for an outside day conditions permitting. I'm not quite ready for the harbour yet I'm afraid............. particularly as Otter is well on form now Quote
Fugazi Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 Due to a very low battery state trying to start my engine last Sunday blew a PCM unit so can't fish Saturday, but should be sorted for Sunday if the date is moved. Gordon H Quote
Adam F Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 The forecast is still looking a bit messy for the week ahead.... The weekend looks very much borderline at the moment for a 'fish all areas' comp. What are peoples views - would you rather it be cancelled to a better day, or are you happy fishing the harbour / inshore sheltered areas for plaice etc?? Quote
Paul D Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 I would prefer cancelled to a better day if needs be. Quote
Wedger Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 I'd prefer an all areas day, as it keeps all parties happy and equal Quote
biggcol Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Bobi and I will find it hard to make it Sat due to gigging in the evening. Sun would be fine or better still, another day when it's nice and sunny and mirror flat sea with plenty of macs for bait and no nets inshore and ........ oh well better wake up now. Colin Quote
petesnr Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Saturday is looking ok according to the seaweed on our washing line I mean weather forecast. When is the decision? Quote
Adam F Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 I must have a different piece of seaweed Pete.... mine is showing Sunday as the better day. I'll try and make a call tomorrow (Thurs) for Sat, or Friday if it looks like Sunday is an option? Quote
alun j. Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 I 've just looked at 5 sites ... all show slightly different. 2 give a better Sat., 3 give Sunday as calmer. I think the Sunday is more reliable [from this far away]!! XC gives the 'nicest'; guru is similar ... these are much more reliable than BBC Alun. Quote
