alun j.
Looks like a nice day with light N wind coming on Mon.[??]. It will be nice to have a day without being thrown about like the past two !! What to target ???????? Comfy inshore and trying for a late bass.... or going out a bit for a seasonal whiting \ cod ??? Bass are still about and Paul & I managed one each yesterday in the 5 - 6 lbs size [ and a few small ones] but finding the livebaits is proving harder with murky water and the strong breeze and tide......I'm not hearing any reports of the whiting yet[??]. Today, Rob and I struggled and only got one livebait each and no bass before a SW breeze [ too fierce for comfort] thwarted our effort !! So Mon. will be fingers crossed for clearer water.... and one last shot at the 'Spikeys'. Hopefully the N breeze tomorrow will flatten the swell and as the tides get smaller, the water might clear....... but will the water , at 13C, rapidly chill down ... and put the bass off??? Alun. Brian
Alun You're right, Monday does look good, I think I'll have to have a day fishing. I might try the spoil ground to see if there are any whiting about.

mike02380
hope you all did better than me, drove hythe to romsey to pick up boat, cracked number plate whilst hooking up the trailer, then drove to lymington, got to brockenhurst and realised i had forgotten boat key! launching would now have been a little late as i'm busy this evening. bit pissed off now so dropped boat off and drove home to hythe straight on here to check the weather for tomorrow! what a waste of a good weather forecast, hopefully work will be quiet and i'll try again tomorrow I also learn't to rinse out my flask better so my coffee doesn't taste like washing up liquid Edited November 9, 2009 by mike02380
Rob
Unlucky Mike - sometimes it is just not mean't to be!!! But if that is the worst that happens then dis not too bad. I am sure you won't be the first to forget keys or other vital things, I think I have done the keys thing - had ignition but not key for locker to connect battery! (now on same keyring!) Better luck next time. Rob
Brian
I was out today, stayed in the harbour, tried several places and blanked. It was really cold and I've only just thawed out.

mike02380
finally got out on tues, only fished for 30 mins or so, got one doggie but did some miles in the boat, (about 22nm for 15 litres) also used the alderney lifting method for the first time so had a couple of practice runs at that. The weed in the solent was horrendous around west lepe and also you could see loads of it in the water around the entrance to lymington river.
