With a warm and settled evening forecast On Tues, I took Rob and a friend Pete done to Barton to fish all night for sole. Conditions were perfect - good sized tide, calm, slightly overcast and warm. We settled in at 8pm for the last 2 hours of the flood as it got dark. We had some cracking worm baits.... Pete struck early with a decent 35cm sole, and I was quickly into a little Smoothound. But that was pretty much it. The slack arrived for an hour and we swung around into the ebb. With hope raised again as Pete added another 28cm sole to the bag and another smoothound. After that it was hours on end of nothing at all. We called it a night at 1am and turned in for a few hours kip at anchor. We tried for an hour at first light on the start of the flood but nothing. Steamed back to Poole and we’re tied up ready for a day at work by 7am. A lot of effort for meagre returns. I think I’ll give Southbourne a try next time.

The point I was trying to make is that for a newly-bought £6-7K angling boat, marina fees which would typically be over £3K, will be difficult for some to afford, given the likely financial difficulties over this winter period. If this is widespread, lots of boats will hit the market at the same sort of time, and hence prices will fall. So yes, probably all marinas...

The new legislation is due to also provide funding for the promotion and development of recreational fishing. Earlier this month we provided written evidence to the committee reviewing the Bill in the House of Commons and now await the report stage in the Commons before the Bill becomes an Act of Parliament and law. Fish of the month: Thornback Ray The most widespread of the rays around the UK coastline is the thornback ray. It gets its name from the sharp spikes on the back of the fish which help to distinguish it from other species. Thornbacks can be caught from both shore and boat and favour sand, mud or shingle seabeds. They can be caught on crab, squid and fish baits depending on the location. Once you’ve located one you are likely to find more in the area. Also referred to as skate or roker, thornbacks are a popular eating fish and their ‘wings’ often appear on restaurant menus, in fishmongers, and in fish and chip shops. I don't think there is a problem with the way you describe it being wired with the combine switch normally off being wired to bypass the house switch when on. It could have been wired so the house switch had to be on as well, however, there is an advantage the way it's wired, if the house switch fails you can still get power to the domestics.
