Hi all, thought I'd say Hello. Just (re)-joined after a long absence (and with a commitment to be a more active participant this time 🙂). My boat Splash Out (Alaska) was owned by an active member prior to me (I bought her 2008 ish). Hope to join in a fair amount, learn a lot & contribute where I can. Apart from being out on the boat, do a lot of flyfishing on the rivers here and Devon, & fancy a go at the salt water fly fishing this year. Berthed at Cobbs on the stack. Look forward to meeting up. I didn’t register to enter the comp, late Sunday after a very difficult day at work I had to get out no matter what the winds or tides we’re doing Alan was moored up and advised me to stay well clear of the ledges, he had come through huge swells ( 3 attempts) . I crawled up the swash, it really was nasty 🤮, back to the harbour to drag up some weed I suppose 😁 Monday 😁wow, a whole day off , I went straight over to Poole outer, anchored ( first time this year) used a very lightweight rod with tiny hooks ( I’m one handed at the moment) **** ( a tale for another thread) to just get a couple of fish on . Wrasse was the target, Four species, And a tiny Bream 😀 Also got a visit from the fisheries vessel 👍 On the bad side of the day was the boat traffic, how close do these stupid yacht owners need to come.( would you leave a auto helm switched on with so many vessels around 😤bloody dangerous) Why do these stupid jet ski owner need to congregate ( about 10) within 60 feet playing very loud wrap music when they have miles of open sea to play on 🤬 Coming back through the harbour got far worse !,,, I suppose that the wrisk of a bank holiday , a great day ruined by the selfishness of others.

We tried Poole patch on the Saturday, but it was very lumpy with that easterly and we were getting no bites. Moved over to Ballard down and anchored a few different spots. Had about 15 bream between two of us, and two wrasse. As others had, a small selection of bream with only one within legal size probably. Dan

Largest Bream 1lb 6oz. Lots of bream but all small. Were visited by the Fisheries vessel and had to give name of boat and fish caught All good and they were very polite. Highlight of the day was Brad catching a 6lb Smoothound which on light gear was quite fun for him. Thanks to Rob Samways for putting us on the Bream. Cheers mate.

Was going out on Looby 4 with Jerry 1 & 2. Due to meet at Cobb's at 07:50. Got a message at 06:30 - - - - can I be there just after 7 for the 07:30 bridge? Yes! So an earlier start than planned. We headed off to Kimmeridge area with high hopes. As we reached our chosen mark Jerry 1 was pointing and saying "dolphins" I got my phone going just in time to video one going under the boat. We could see more in the distance too. Jerry 1 was quickly into a beautiful Cuckoo Wrasse. I'd never seen one of those before. Of course Jerry 2 wasn't having that! So he caught one too! I think we ended up with 15 or more bream in total and we kept a few whilst the smaller ones went back. Doggies, a Bull Huss to Jerry 2, A small eel to me, a couple of small Bass to Jerry 1. I really enjoyed my day out and was looked after by a couple of Real Gents. Thank you VERY much both of you. As an extra. . . . . . Yesterday I was fixing a flat roof and got a bit scorched. Today out in the sun all day. . . . . . . I have a face as red as Jerry's coat but I have an antidote! Beer. Thanks Gentlemen. Jim

After many cancellations at last we managed to proceed with the Bream Comp. Far from perfect weather conditions or tide but well done everyone who joined in. First place. Alan Green Fisheagle. Black Bream 3lbs Second place. Colin Frances Boblin Black Bream 2lbs 13oz Third Place. Mike Hall Fisheagle Black Bream 2lbs 12oz Species comp now only a couple of weeks away so let’s hope to be rid of the easterlies by then. Jerry

We tucked ourselves in to Swanage Bay this morning where we had a steady run of bream and the sea state kept improving. Best 1 lb 11oz to Chris. Well done to the Boblin crew who were pulling them in more rapidly than us. Usual idiots out there deciding to go between two boats at anchor rather than going around! 🙄

A day of two halves with the morning producing most of the decent fish with around six at 2 lbs. 8 ozs. Best two were 3 lbs. to myself and 2 lbs. 12 ozs. to Mike Hall.

A late entry for the Alderney trip, Kingfisher will be joining in as Terry has done the business on “late bookings.com” by securing some accommodation. Myself and Dogfish Dave will be joining the trip. Thanks again Terry. 👍

Dean and I were off through the 8:30 bridge lift and out to ballard for our first stop. Very slow there with just a couple of Bream and nothing else so a move was called for. Off over the Dancing ledge where we had 7 or 8 smooth hounds up to 10lb ish, a spotted ray at 3lb 12oz, dogfish and around 6 Bream. Was windier than expected so after a while we decided to return to Ballard on the way back. The mark we would have fished was already taken and glad it was as we went slightly off piste where we had 25-30 Bream. Largest went to Dean at around 2lb but he is no longer a club member so doesn't count, largest I could muster weighed 1lb 12oz at home. All in all a good day with a splattering of fish which kept us busy for a change.
