Only a quick report as I have a very busy day. Very enjoyable day out with one of the Jones boys yesterday, in this case Ian. We managed to find some mackerel but had trouble keeping them alive as they don't seem to like my American aerating bait tank, despite not engaging the aerator (which kills them in minutes) and changing the water regularly, I really must get a deck wash pump fitted so I can run a proper bait tank. However, we persevered and I did manage to snaffle a couple of nice bass, the biggest going 8lb 2oz when weighed at home at the end of a very long day. It will probably be a bit smaller when I remove the bloody great crab which can be easily felt in its belly, it's going to know it when it craps that lot out! Otherwise, a fairly uneventful day which left us unbothered by much else of note apart from a nice gurnard for Ian which will, perhaps, contribute to a nice fish stew. As it has done for the last two outings, a perfectly good forecast went windy and lumpy for the second half a the day which put the mockers on the plaice session, they don't like it up 'em Mr. Mainwaring. As seems to be usual, the day finished with me eating my take away Chez Burt, always fun. Now watching the weather for Alderney next week, everything crossed. Terry.

Cleaning, that's what crew are for! Get 90% done before you get back to base. Maybe you just need new crew! Good luck Pete if you decide to sell. I don't use mine much, 3 or 4 times a year , prob more in lockdown. But being on the drive costs are a Barr minimum. Just knowing she is there and "could" go out, is warming! R

Quick update, upon gutting the bass, it's stomach contents were quite amazing, how it was going to jettison this lot, I'm not quite sure, I've heard of being on solid foods but this is ridiculous! The fish is a small flattie, not what I would expect on the ledge. The bait tank was only a stop gap Charlie, I've had it for some years, sent to me by the Florida owner of Keep Alive bait tanks who I used to know and fish with. For anything other than mackerel, it is brilliant but therefore of little use to me. When I can find somebody to fit a deck wash pump I will be back up to speed, as I was on Stingray. Terry.

I know what you are going through Pete. It has been a real crap time for all of us and like you I have lost the interest in fishing recently. All I can advise is that when I got rid of my first boat to raise cash to start our business 20 years ago, I missed it greatly, and bought a new boat three years after. I now tend to do more leisure boating now with the odd trolling of lures to keep into fishing. I find it a real chore now to get up early and scrabble for bait and all the hassle of cleaning down afterwards. Actually, thinking about, it I think the recent lockdowns and restrictions have made me very lazy when it comes to fishing!!! I will get back into it again once all the restrictions have been lifted. I hope you hang in there and would hope to see you at the next club meet. Cheers Greg

Sorry to hear this Pete, I went through a period of reflection recently but decided a new boat would solve the problem, just let me know when you want to go fishing, you of all people should feel at home on Min-y-Mor! Terry.

Richard at Power Marine could do this for you plus he is based in Cobbs or I can drill you the hole and fit the intake but you would need to take care of the electrics. Images are of what I used to fit a deck wash to Awol

That's how I have always carried out my fishing Greg but I have also got the disincentive of an indeterminate drive time included ;e.g normally 1 to 1&1/4 hrs each way this week took 2hrs to get back as they closed the M27 .I was lucky sat nav told me before i got near it and sent me via Salisbury. If unlucky it has taken 3.5hrs each way: I live less than 50miles away😲

Sorry to hear about the bait tank Terry, I have always found that contact changing water works much better than an aerator, as it keeps the water both fresh and cold Well done on nabbing a good bass Like you already checking the weather for next weekend

Cheers for the invites guys. I seem to have lost all interest in fishing and boating during this lockdown period.. I'm contemplating a complete clear out of most of my sea fishing equipment and gear. Looking for a new hobby . Might change my mind when I see the old boat sparkling again at the end of the month
