  1. Hi all, As recently appointed ( no other Nominations ) Club Conservation and Liason Officer, I would briefly like to introduce myself. My name is Allan Green, my Web Name is Fisheagle and originally enough my boat's name is also Fisheagle and based at Cobbs. I am keen on all types of fishing, but as I get older, I am doing more and more boat fishing. In these turbulent times, Conservation of fish stocks and working with others in the fishing fraternity to ensure sustainability will help maintain and hopefully, improve our sport. I will attend the period PDSA ( Poole And District Sea Angling Association ) which represents around 18 local Fishing Club's and report back from these Meetings which are also attended by the local Fisheries Officers from SIFCA ( Southern Inshore Fisheries Conservation Authority ). Details of these Meeting are published on the Club Website and they are open to all Members. I also hope to get an invite to join the RAGS Group which represents local Recreational and Commercial interest including Charters. So, if it is local or larger scale issues, I will try and keep Members updated and express Mebers and the Club's views as appropriate. Allan.

  2. Firstly a very big thank you to Martin, a very enjoyable day good company, coffee good fishing, I and learnt a lot, particularly impressed at the end of the day with Martin berthing Madness without using the helm. Oh yes and there was some fishing earlier, I had two big bight offs, not sure if they were makos or porbeagles heavily disguised as tope, however started well with mackerel in the harbour and managed some plaice and and an lsd and then it fell away, so a total of 3. Great fun I want to do it again next week 😀

  11. The results today from Marlin:- Greg T - Black Goby, Pout, Ballan Wrasse, Plaice, Conger Eel, LSD, Tope = 7 Species Mike Fox - Corkwing Wrasse, Black Bream, Black Goby, Pout, Goldsinny Wrasse, Bailions Wrasse, Whiting, Cuckoo Wrasse, Plaice,Tub Gurnard, Conger Eel, LSD, Tope = 13 Species. Having not fished a species comp for over three years it was frustrating how out of touch I was today with my fishing. Also, it was hard going as the wind picked up a lot more than forecasted. We could not catch Mackerel for love nor money which was both frustrating and quite disturbing, also, disappointing not to have any Rays on board too. However, one bonus of the day was having Mike on board to get some good tips on bait and rig preparations and he helped out greatly with the crewing. Thanks Mike for all your help (especially getting drenched by the rain on the last pull of the hook !!!!). Cheers mate.

  13. 23rd July 2022, 7.30pm, at Broadstone Conservative Club Dave (Reel Wizard) died in early 2021 from incurable cancer. Because of Covid restrictions his funeral was limited to 30 people so his wife, Jackie, would like to hold an Open Memorial Evening. The aim of the evening will be to pay tribute to Dave as an ex-England and European angler, for his Reel Services and as a photographer. The evening includes a free buffet and Broadstone Conservative Club is not charging for the room. During the evening there will be various fund raising events for Macmillan Caring, which helped Dave. These will include the auction of some Dave's pictures and prints, sale of bird/nature books and raffle. All are more than welcome. Come and join us for a drink, however, if you would like some food please let me know by the 16th. July so I can pass the numbers on to Jackie. Allan.

  15. Hi again Greg. The issue will be raised by Chris Holloway on your behalf and that of others towards the end of the month at the RAGS Group. There is a move to see if we can get an exemption for recreational anglers to take a few of certain species for livebait. Meanwhile, follow Tony's advice and stick to published SIFCA size limits. So do I but then almost immediately forget lol Good result I would say as easy for a sparky to find so hopefully not overly expensive (well in boat terms anyways)

  17. Hi Greg, Many thanks for your question. Things changed a bit after we left the EU, but my understanding is that there are certain species that do not have a minimum size limit for retention. However, I will double check, especially with regards to Mackeral and Pollack which , I believe have minimum sizes since 2021.

  18. Hi Allan, I would love to attend the event, however, it is my son's birthday party/BBQ that evening, so I will not be able to make it. Dave was a true professional and very talented and was always there to give free advise. I would like to donate £30.00 to the charity and I will give you the cash at tomorrow's evening club meeting. I do not want any raffle tickets. Greg

  22. How often it is with electrics, annoyingly difficult to find for the amateur, especially if one doesn't live near one's boat. Terry.
