  1. No fishing for me. Took some time off the jobs at home to go and watch my Grand daughter in an army cadet march at Poole Park. One very proud Grandad! πŸ˜‰

  2. The sea state was fairly fishable. We couldn't miss the chance to lure fish for bass to start with on what was pretty good conditions for them, then going for whiting when the tide was more favorable. Well the bass fishing came good we both caught over a bag limit of well sizable fish all in great condition, very welcome after so few trips in recent months! Well with cod so few and far between and the tide starting to slacken we went for whiting. Motoring around looking for fish on the sounder revealed very little, no obvious bait fish shoals (sprats) and few fish overall. Anyway after seeing fish of some sort on the sounder around Dolphin Sands as the tide started to slacken we put the hook in and gave it a good go, result, not a bite. A move with the tide now on the ebb saw some action, however it was of the dog and strap conger variety and lots of them along with another sizable bass! So no whiting or cod to report but we had good day in super mild conditions for November and some decent bass for tea.

  3. Well unless there are any other reports to come in it looks like the Cod and Whiting Competition unfortunately blanked. Well done those who managed to get out, not an easy day. I had planned to go out on the Monday as it previously was looking better with a SW wind direction, but by Sunday night that had changed. With fresh blacks J2 had found we headed to Chesil at 5.30 Monday morning. 1.4m Swell my first two casts prouduced below!!!! Sorry about the blood, two of us had 7 on the beach by lunchtime, a few whips and a bass. Perhaps we had better hold the Cod comp on Chesil next year!!!!

  5. Well done Graham for sticking it out. You are a braver man than me. I was considering entering, but after being advised by a fellow member of the predicted wind force 4 to 5 south easterlies I knew it would be too uncomfortable for my old Back !!!. So very well done πŸ‘

  7. i didnt withdraw but I might as well have done. Popped out of the harbour, it was much choppier than it should have been. We saw some charters towards the end of the Swash so joined them. If doggies where the target then we passed with flying colours. It was quite uncomfortable on a small boat so we headed back into the harbour after a few hours. We tied up to an unused buoy and drowned a few more worms. Complete blank ...... Headed home after being out about 5 or 6 hours of being thrown about like we were inside a washing machine. Nothing to record fish wise im afraid but i was with a very old mate of mine and his wife and we had a great day reminiscing our younger days and the silly things we used to do.

Thanks for your thoughts lads, I did have a day at least. Number 1 daughter talked me into felling a big old tree in a friends garden which took up most of the day time. She gets all the logs and I get - exercise. Good to know I haven't lost my touch with a chainsaw. As a reward, Amanda cooked us dinner and supplied the wine which was, in some part, adequate recompense. Terry.

Correct! If you need something special printing there are firms out there who can print really good models for a sensible cost but if it's for you to dabble then I would suggest you keep it cheap to start with but research first. ( It sounds like you're doing that) πŸ‘

Only at the 'looking' stage at present so not sure of details, mostly it seems to depend on how much one spends, as far as I can see, from about Β£150 to 'king ridiculous. Terry.

I have saws & a chainsaw Terry. Jackie's very fond of Ash at the mo. Our new stairs are made of it so she's getting me to make things out of the offcuts that were left over. Not got anywhere near the machine yet but been practicing with the software in the evenings. πŸ‘

I have yet to identify it exactly Jim. It is some sort of ornamental variety but big. Rather than a large central trunk, it had a low bole at the bottom and large sub trunks going off in various directions and was right next to a fence with the neighbours property with a summer house on their side. It tested my ingenuity and involved a bit of climbing, although not as high as I used to go, I probably wouldn't bounce as well these days. I wouldn't have seen it as a candidate for turning. I took a large ash down here a while ago (this year) if you want a bit of that. Terry.
