Thanks Charlie, I'll add some pictures later. I really enjoyed it and even caught a few myself. You forgot to say that it was a funny old roll on the water at the 50 50s. It's rare that I feel iffy but that got to me a bit. I wasn't sick, just a bit iffy. I was improving back on the SRM and then on the way home. By the time I was home I was fine. Had some tea and a couple of cans of Guinness. 🙂👍 More to follow later . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Well done Mal All that effort will be worth it. We all carry far to much kit and tackle, but 6 pairs of scissors, may be a tad over the top.

Hi everyone, As you may have seen , I was fortunate enough to catch a specimen Spurdog today. As well as being an active member of this Club I am also in a Navy veteran's one, so I recorded the fish on our website and with them on a very busy WhatsApp group. This has raised a bit of an issue regarding the correct specimen size. Our Club is using 16lb and the Navy 14lb. I though that my other Club was wrong, as I thought we had it changed some years ago. The secretary of that Navy Club tells me that he has checked the AT website. Can someone please check. sorry to cause a problem.

Charlie I definitely remember that we voted to up our specimen size for Spurs. Not sure when it was but we were still up at Ashley Road. Well done on a good fish.

Thanks for joining me today Jim. Really enjoyable even if Colin was right about the wind. Nice sunny day in the chilly wind. Bit rude of me to catch a fish before you had a bait in the water, but it was only one of many doggies. Moving out to the 50 50 area was a good move, even if the waves were bigger. Dogs whiting pout started us off. A short time later as the tide eased, I was rewarded with a small blonde ray. Before that was even out of the net, my other rod bent to a strong fish. Great effort by Jim to get the net under a stroppy spurdog, that pulled the scales down to 7.6 kg. 16lb 12oz. In old money. As the tide started to build on its ebb run , we decided to move back inshore. For just a few more doggies. 1600 end and short run back to the yacht club. Jim took the pictures so i will ask him to add a few.

Three visits to the boat over the last few days with Mould spray and lots of kitchen roll in hand, the black mould this year in the cabin was very ugly. Re sorted all life jackets, Dan buoy, throw ropes, fire extinguisher, fire blanket, flooring and mats all had mould on them. I can report HG mould spray is better than bleach. It was a bit of a grind, but gradually I enjoyed the process, looking forward to the season. Then it was the turn of the tackle box, oh no! Note to self, don't but any more hooks, sidewinders, slow jigs, line, swivels, clips or any terminal tackle and I think six pairs of scissors is perhaps excessive. The tackle shop is off limits. How many of you are agreeing? Engine serviced, diesel tank for the heater filled, radio checked, knives sharpened, decks scrubbed and now I am ready to be dropped back in. Are you all ready for the new season and the February meeting, I am looking forward to seeing you all and serving another year as your chairman.
