  1. I am now almost ready to begin the big new adventure.I have put the backing and the fly line on the reel.I now need to join the leader to the fly line.I was told ,"don't mess about with needles etc. use these super easy Braided Loops." I have tried and tried, following these simple 5 step directions....I can get the tube over the braid....I can get the tube over the fly line.....but I cant get the braid OVER the fly line, are both the line and the braid inside the tube when you do it ?I did manage at one point to get about 3mm of braid over the fly line, with both outside the tube, but never enough to proceede to push the braid up the line. Can anyone see or do you know how it's done ? It might be easier to resort to ;needle;knot;and superglue !! ...jack

    Just Testing

A club member had just completed a boat handling and safety course. The instructor was running through a few "hypathetical" questions. "what would you do if a squall blew up on the starboard side?",he asked." I would throw out an anchor on that side".... "What if a squall blew up from the port side too?"..." I would throw out another anchor on the port side", was the reply..."But what if another squall blew up from astern too?"..." I would just sling out another anchor from the stern "....."Hang on", said the instructor, "where are you getting all these anchors from?"...."The same damn place as you are getting all your squalls from!".was the wise reply.

    Hi Neil K

    Hi neil welcome aboard..jack
  6. John,I have a great idea. Our Arvor 25 [pal o mine] Deters even more fish than yours! [logical because its larger ] How about we get our heads together and TAX the other members, NOT to go out together in an area they intend to fish ! Say one fish in 5 that they catch, whilst we are not around.that way,we would end up with more fish than we do now ,and look at the money saved.Theres a mad logic in there somewhere...jack

    Outboard Bracket

Newboy is spot on.small refinement is a short cord attached to the wood and the engine bracket, just long enough to drop the wood into the drainage well when not in use.saves losing the block, and you know where it is when you need it..jack
  11. I think I know why, the Miniature Daschund Hits. A little detective work required.. jack

  23. Not to harp on too much, but the wash waves at the chain ferry have no pattern or predictable direction amongst up to 10 or more large boats in close proximity, with no apparent traffic rules or lanes, often only feet apart and travelling in opposite directions,go out to play there at your own risk!! Stand in the little car park at the top of the ferry slip,at one of the peak times and judge for yourself...jack
  24. Old Hugh Stoker's books are a nice read, but so are Hans Christian Anderson's !. Perhaps 45yrs ago when he described them they were good prolific marks, But when I first tried them 35 years ago they had less fish than than when he wrote them. Yes ,the marks are still there but many of the fish are long gone....Sad but true, this is what happens when you become an old fart...jack
