Thanks one and all for your replies.Despite ALL we had a nice day,and after all,it was far from blank for us,but now having caught something we are getting ambitious.I am sure that all who heard us tried to reply,Charlie's initial responce nearly blew us out of the water, although it scattered to pieces ,did you get that sound system from the Rolling Stones ?.I do understand that our radios are more or less strait line reception jobs,so cant expect to hear you, if there are cliffs etc.in the way.The fact that so many heard us is comforting, and shows we are working o.k. Andy seems to be getting to grips with the simrad, although he won't let me have a play with it,I cant think why when I have almost mastered setting the Video. we shall be breaming next Sunday all being well, and are now OPTAMISTIC....jack

Left Poole at 9am.seemed rather lumpy ,so we fished the outer end of the Swash channel, called up " any poole boats,no response".stayed there for an hour or so,but loads of weed, making a mess of my lovely beaded outfit.,,sea settled a little so went around to Ballard and tried for BB's,nothing doing.called on radio again without reply and was convinced we were alone out there, very few other boats about,Tried groundbaiting but no results after 2hrs.moved 2ml off,had a doggie [hoo bloody ray ! ] Heard a poole boats call and replied. Life at last !! Thank you Tina marie..Radio signals seemed poor, was it us ,or was it general ?. We called Gt, White and Blue Warrior, and although I think we got Gt, White ,it was badly broken up and we gave up.We then went down between Peveral Bouy and St Albans ,Drifted for a while and picked up a nice Bream on completely the wrong gear {no justice ] Drifted toward Poole ,picked up 4 wrasse . I on a huge bait !.Saw boats against Ballard and moved closer in and anchored. Had beautiful bait and groundbait, sat there for over an hour watching the closest boat catch one Bream after the other whist we blanked {and sobbed quietly ].We called it quits and started in only to see a makeral trip boat drifting and hauling in strings of fish.At this stage it was too late to worry about being embarrassed, and the prospect of taking home supper was too great to resist, out came the feathers and we drifted 50 yards from them, their boatman was THROWING FISH BACK !,try as we might we got nothing, they went home while we fished on for 10 mins more and eventualy got 1 makeral before dashing to catch the bridge. So now you now how we manage to fish all day for nil results, although this was a GOOD day...jack

Hi Adam. You like mine and Andy's new boat do you ?. Perhaps we could have a copy of it,as we can't see it ourselves, when we are in it.....jack

Andy has a building business,he could probably bring a mixer to the next club meeting if anyone wants to see one....jack

If it was a commercially produced job,I would hate to be a REP trying to get orders..jack

Sounds like you chaps need a floating "fuel tank trailer " to tow behind the boat when you go out...jack
-
Loyal Royal. Next time out with boat on tow ,do a few [not too rapid ] stops. get out and feel the trailer wheel hubs. If they both feel warm,They'r working. If all is cold they are not ,and if one of each, obvious !...jack

Typical on here.Blueboat driver bowls a "googly" and Rich comes up with a "rum" reply.....jack

I think that the idea of displaying a sticker of a fish on the side of your boat for every large or near record breaking fish caught is childish ,vain ,big headed and downright Bragging !! BUT THEN......I could be a teeny weeny bit biased...jack.

Dan,you have still got more gumption than me.I got everything ready for a first try this week-end but bottled out because I thought you could'nt cast in strong wind.I felt that if I made a lousy mess of it,I might not bother again,so I left it 'till later....jack

I find STUGERON great for sea-sick prevention. They dont taste, you can scrunch them and get them down during sick bouts if you forget beforehand. They dont cause drowsiness and NO awful dry mouth. [should be a REP me ]. Sir Francis Drake had the best cure of all......Stand under a tree ! ! ! ..jack

Thanks for all that info. Mike. The van is diesel, [although I did once fill it with petrol ! ].... [ it did'nt improve performance, and did awful damage to my wallet ] so I will carry on "murdering" that. I will however take your advice with the Ka. and let it rev more.I am doing a fair run -about this weekend in the car so it will be interesting to see if economy is affected by the different driving style....thanks again..jack
-
Bloody hell mike, you could be my long-lost nephew !!.Seriously 'though I still usually drive round at 2500 revs or so,In both my Ford Ka ,and my Peugot 2500 turbo Campervan. On the van I can feel the Turbo come in at spot on 2000revs. I frequently manage to drop into 5th gear about town without " shunting " or anything.I cant do that with the van when towing the car,but I am usually in 5th on the open road, usually at under 3000revs,thats about 50 mph or so.;So are you telling me that I am not being"economical" but still murdering engines ?..Waiting for an answer with baited breath...jack

The Duke of Edinborough was visiting a Major Injuries Unit. Before entering the ward ,the Chief Consultant had emphasised to him how amazingly cheerfull every patient was, despite thier terrible predicaments. In the first bed ,the patient had lost both arms. But with a big smile,he assured the Duke that he was fine and had learned to paint and draw using his feet. In the next bed the patient had neither arms or legs. But once again, smiling broadly he assured the Duke that,he was very well and happy, and that he was operating a computer, using a rod gripped in his teeth. The Duke was very impressed. However,,,at the next bed there was just a head on the pillow, and it was sobbing bitterly. "what on earth is the matter with this chap ?",asked the Duke. " Oh take no notice" said the consultant. " he's just sulking, because he's having all his teeth out after lunch "..... ...they don't come much worse than that...jack

AAHH...that Jimbo ! ..........jack.

I have always been an "economical car driver" always using the highest gear possable.I had a lot of trouble with a newish 6cyl.ford granada. After the garage had sorted things out {for the third time } I was known ever after by them as "the man who murders engines". So it seems someone has the correct thread somewhere.

To check if Your particular Tohatsu is made of wood ,[1] Find deep mark..[2]disconnect all cables etc.,loosen the two large screw fittings gripping the transom, ease the motor upwards .........................or perhaps not !!!..jack
