  1. Is that one of the cardinal rules then? Mad Mike Cardinal sins if you get it wrong
  2. If you ever trail your boat to the states always remember that the channel markers are the opposite way round to ours; ie greens are on your Port side when entering a harbour
  3. I don't know of any books but if you've got any questions about boating and boat maintenance I'm sure if you ask on here there's usually at least one person who knows the answer.
  4. You would get differing answers depending on which part of the country you came from. For exampe; ask in the North of Scotland where fishing is a large part of their industry and I think you'll know what your answer will be. Even not so many miles to the west of us commercial fishing is an important part of peoples' lives. It is worth a thought before we try to ban commercial fishing completely.
  5. Newton who? are you sure
  6. They're so subtle you would have to have been very familiar with the original to notice, ie. work for the company or be the webmaster on here. I thought for a few seconds that the moving hand/pointer was gone but just when I thought I was safe it reappeared. Any way I decided not to let it worry me too much
  7. I would say Poole Quay is your only solution. Unless you can carry them on board firemans' lift style.
  8. The boat that is ploughing the middle channel is Poole harbour is showing a flashing orange light. Maybe the ones you saw were something to do with the dredgers; support boats maybe. It wasn't a hovercraft was it?
  9. Volkswagon
  10. I'm really worried if enough club members use the stern bollard method of pulling the anchor out; the law of averages says that on a day with just the wrong conditions one of us is going to sink our boat. It really goes against everything you get taught over the years. All the club members boats are small enough to have a problem using this method. Pehaps another open day showing anchor retrieval should be arranged. Sorry if I sound a bit serious but it really is an issue. Simon.
  11. Imagine how busy their phone would be on a hot weekend in August
  12. Is there a prize?
  13. Just tried Kam's idea with no joy. I'm starting to feel a bit of a nuisance now
  14. I quite often hear the term 'flattie bashing' bandied about on this forum Well Matt and my self went out on my boat Marlyn on Wednesday and on his boat on Thursday. We tried; Seagull Island; three spots in Holes Bay; Wytch Channel next to the paint barges; baitor and Evening Hill. We caught two checkers and did not get one flounder bite in two days. The only bashing going on was our heads against the wall I do think really though that our problem may have been on both days we had to leave before the top of the second high water and maybe it would have fished on the main ebb away. Desperate
  15. I've another problem Paul. If I stay logged on and save the forums as a favourite or on the desktop I receive this error message when I try to navigate to the home page;Fatal error: Call to undefined function: forumnewsindex() in /home/skipper1/public_html/modules/Forum_News/index.php on line 6 If I log off of the site and come back via www.pbsbac.co.uk the home page is htere. I do prefer to come straight to the forums via my desktop and usually only check out the home page occasionally. Any ideas? Oh yeah, sorry for another potential headache
  16. It is a good idea to have an anchor you don't mind losing on board for really snaggy areas. The only problem is they're not usually galvanised or stainless and the last thing you want on a nice boat like yours Jack is something on board that's going to leave rust stains wherever you put it.
  17. Visiting the relatives Jack?
  18. I don't think he meant all fish; bass was the fish mentioned in the thread title.
  19. Last season I was only due to work for one of the comps. This times it looks like the reverse. That's the way it goes I suppose
  20. Thanks Paul that has worked. I firstly made this the forum my home page; then deleted all my short cuts to this site; I then logged off of the internet; then back on again and reinstate all of your shortcuts; you can then change your home page back to whatever you like. Clear as mud I'm sure
  21. Fatal error: Call to undefined function: forumnewsindex() in /home/skipper1/public_html/modules/Forum_News/index.php on line 68 I've also got this message on the home page. Don't know if it's related to the other problem?
  22. Paul, If this was the problem wouldn't I have the same problem with any other forums that I'm registered with?
  23. I've tried all of that Paul and still no joy. I've never had a problem here or at work before so I'm sure it's teething problems with the new site set up. I'm not complaining; I think you're doing a great job, I just thought you'd be interested to know what's going on.
  24. Hey Martin, you'll still have to buy the cod from the supermarket.
  25. What about one of our members who came first in the juniors. Congratulations to Ryan Way junior member.
