  1. With extended headroom?
  2. I agree, It's not often you see violent storm 11 on our part of the shipping forecast.
  3. I've been using veals semi-circle hooks for flounders; size 2 I think. Every fish including three well in size bass were hooked in the corner of the mouth. The semi-circles are a bit easier to bait with worms than the full circles. I'm sure these will make good bream hooks next season.
  4. Cracking bit of aliteration Wedger
  5. Not too much to shout about on Bliss 2 in the way of fish anyway. We did have fun getting the ten man life-raft down off of the wheelhouse roof while ten miles off though. Tony Way isn't on line so he's asked me to thank all of the organizers, who he appreciates have put a lot of time and effort into getting this whole thing off the ground. Especially those who had to start late and get in early to man the scales etc. Thanks from all on Bliss 2 also, even though we didn't win anything it was great event and look foward to the next one.
  6. This fish wasn't actually caught by a beam trawler Sam. But it may have been next week
  7. A 22lbs Turbot was caught on the Hook Sands two days ago Only one thing though; one of the netters caught it I wonder how many other monsters like this are lurking around under our noses.
  8. If it's any good can we share it?
  9. I think I'm going to choose Accuweather Poole Bay Sailing forecast. They're only giving 3-4.
  10. cup, perhaps.
  11. Bliss 2 will be out with Matt, Dean and myself. Two Ways will be out with Tony and Jason. Matt Sydenham is entering with Oklahoma with I think, five on board.
  12. I've never seen 25 boats anchored on the same wreck before. Should be interesting
  13. Thanks Charlie, That was my concern. I doubt if they weight test strimmer line. I will chat to my friend at work. He used to work on a longliner out of Poole. He may know where we can obtain some line.
  14. Thanks alot Sam, good advice. I take it you're after the one in the picture on Sunday. I expect it's grown quite abit by now
  15. I have 100lbs b/s line in my box. Is this heavy enough for serious congers? I ask this because I was in my garage just now and noticed the reel of line for my garden strimmer. It looks to be at least 200lbs b/s but does anyone think it is up to the job seeing as it is obviously not made for angling? It does feel very strong though.
  16. Good answer Martin. Thanks, Simon.
  17. Thanks Martin.
  18. I hope you cleaned the bath out afterwards; you wouldn't want to leave a tide line around the bath would you?
  19. Martin, You have a PM from me Cheers, Simon.
  20. If a few people have got several different species to weigh in it could take a while.
  21. Just a quick one. If anyone arrives for the weigh-in at 16:55 and there are 2 or 3 people in the queue in front of them will their fish still count if it takes more than 5 minutes to weigh the earlier fish?
  22. Tony Way went out on Illusion yesterday. He battled in a bit of tide what he thought was a decent size fish. When it came to the boat all aboard looked over the side at what they thought was a cod. No such luck; 12lb pollack. Still a nice fish but he was disappointed.
  23. truly insane
  24. Well done Matt, You seem to be the only one on Bliss catching anything at the moment, what with the cod the other day. Hopefully things will change next Sunday when I'm aboard.
  25. Had a day out on Marlyn with my dad and son George, first launch for quite a while. Caught two flounders straight away on a mooring buoy just off the north channel. It went quiet so we moved to Blood Alley where we had another flounder and Three nice bass, all about 1 3/4 lbs, one each.Had a go in Brownsea Roads for herring for about 20 minutes to no avail. Great day out with lovely weather, looking foward to next week. Oh, one other thing. I spoke to Tony Way on the phone and he had been trying to catch herring for a couple of hours in the morning. He said he could see huge shoals of fish on his sounder but could only manage to catch one. Anyone got any ideas. He was using hokaii shrimp thingys but no joy.
