  1. Oh Bottom! I could have won that. I don't suppose Video of the month counts? 🤣

Rob just sent me a cracking song to go with it Charlie. I'll get to it as soon as I can. Lots going on here at the mo.

Thanks Charlie. No idea when I can get onto yours.

Thanks Jenny. Carl said you both liked it. It's just so hard to get pictures or video of our own boats. I always nag at people to do it when they see club boats but nobody seems to think about it. I'll get your film on a DVD and give it to you on the next meeting. Glad you enjoyed it.

    A Proud day for Jim

As you can tell, I'm rather proud of myself. 😉
  9. A proud day for Jim. Nothing to do with boats! In 2023 I decided to carve Upton House into wood. I asked if I could fly my drone. Not a chance was the answer, Nesting birds & wildlife etc. So I tried many times to capture enough data with my phone to use Photogrammetry to create a digital model. Every attempt failed. In 2024 I asked again and showed my lack of progress and what I was trying to achieve. I explained that if it worked I would donate a carving to the park. I was given a very small time slot to fly. I captured 730 high res photos and stitched them together using Photogrammetry. I then had to clean up the model and remove all of the “fluff”. I used that to create a digital relief and then carved that into a lovely piece of wood that the park had given to me. It is now on display in the visitor centre. This is a video of: The Making of this carving. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IjULWr-GxI

Thanks for the praise Chris. Makes me feel like Mutley when he gets a medal. 😀 It was quite easy to do without much effort. The video I got with the Osmo pocket (Gimbal camera) was nearly all good so not a lot of cutting and splicing or effects to do. The song was the work of my Brother. I'm guessing Carl & Jenny must be away as there's been no comments from them. I hope they like it. 😉

Sea Drift heading out of Poole Harbour. Carl & Jenny on board whilst following Madness. No fish were harmed during the making of this video. Carl & Jenny: If for any reason you don't like this just let Me know and I'll take it down.

    Video soundtracks

Thanks Mick & Charlie. Not sure of the exact law. I expect it will be against the rules to use copyrighted material but if it's just for yourself at home then I don't expect anyone will be after you but for public viewing or commercial gain you'd be in hot water.
  14. Greetings All, Just a quick example of suitable soundtrack for videos. This one is Sea Drift with a selection of sounds. The change in sound track changes the mood of the video. Sea Drift Demo Sounds Low Res.mp4
  15. All true Greg but it's been going on a long time. People who refuse to work and make a career out of playing the system so genuine people in need of help really struggle to get any. The worst offenders being governments hiding the unemployment figures by moving people off the "dole" and onto "sick" because it's easier to do that than "coax" them back to work.
