  1. I have not heard much in the way of whiting coming out, seems a couple of months too early. There were half a dozen boats or so fishing the car park last weekend don't know if any nodders were caught. Often a few lunkers are caught early in the season. Good luck.

    Boat Show

Sam what were you thinking doing that! That's a great spec boat [emoji1] nice. I was there last week. I took a look at the Targa's and there was Sweet Chariot looking as good as new. Very nice Oli first time I've seen it. Had a right old nosy round. They have done a fantastic valeting job for you [emoji2]
  3. I think it is dead in the water unless they can push them further out or use lower turbines. Pity.

  6. Take a bow Rob, magnifique [emoji1] [emoji471]
  7. That's great, that's a massive improvement, well done. I'm sure your fuel consumption will be a fair bit lower now the engine is able to push the hull along properly.
  8. I am planning to go out Monday assuming the weather holds, probably to give it a go for bass on some banks or rough ground south of the island. If any members fancy coming along let me know. Good luck for your trip home Tony.
  9. Thanks Guy's. I'm in the UK this time so no interesting photo's this time. Spent some of day fitting a more powerful deck wash to the boat using a par max 5 pump, it kicks out a more than decent flow A par max 3 plus filter in good working order is available if anyone is interested. I did manage a decent meal and trip to the cinema. At the restaurant I was offered catch of the day, Brill £40 for 2!! felt like asking how much would it be if I provided my own Brill.
  10. Thanks ok I will fit a dedicated antenna.
  11. I am thinking of fitting an AIS class B transponder with GPS built in to Tigerfish. A birthday present from the wife, only I have to choose and buy it! It will need to interface to: Standard Horizon GX2000 VHF radio (it supports an AIS input) and feed the radio with my boat position from the AIS Raymarine E120 (and E80) on a Seatalk network which currently has GPS provided by a ST6001 autopilot Can fit a dedicated AIS antenna if required. I'd also like to future proof somewhat by supporting WiFi or USB I know that being a transponder I will be giving away my position but at least other ships can see and contact me and they have a silent switch for those secret marks... I found these which may be suitable Digital Yacht AIT2000 http://www.digitalyachtamerica.com/index.php/en/products/ais-systems/ais-transponders/product/32-ait2000-class-b-transponder Vesper Marine XB-8000 http://www.vespermarine.com/xb8000-ais-transponder.html/ It's a bit of a technical minefield with the connectivity options and I don't how how well AIS units work relative to each other, If any members have suggestions or recommendations I'd be pleased to hear.
  12. Thanks for posting these Rob, very interesting and thought provoking. Re the missed turbo it seems to me that it was moving off with the bait after you let the line go slack. Then when the camera stopped the line there was a bolt rig effect that spooked it and off it shot shaking off the hook hold as it did so . So maybe the camera cost you the fish....
  13. Good report Pete. Nice Turbo, best of the 3 boats. How on earth did we miss you at the Thai? only thing I can think is we ate upstairs.
  14. 1 50lb class rod for me please. I would have said 1 tld 20 except Rob got in before me. Cheers Adam
  15. Hope alls well second time around. Better take the rods just in case....
  16. Sounds just like it Steve, very similar to the boat towing incident. Very odd the bait was not touched, like the fish was not hooked in the mouth.
  17. It was a good trip abet harder fishing than the May trip. The mooring incident was quite amusing and annoying at the same time. In the time honored fashion I left my dinghy complete the O/B on a mooring. On our return a small yacht was beside it. In which the captain just stood and stared at us as we proceeded to come alongside. Keeping my temper in check I expressed the view that he should not have moored up on the mooring. He was very unapologetic saying you can't reserve visitors moorings (we had paid for it yesterday). Graham sorted out the ropes and we rafted alongside. Tigerfish was a fair bit bigger than the yacht so not a good match to raft. Next, on to the radio to JV. Told Adam the situation, we had rafted up the night before and awaited events to unfold. JV arrived. Ian told them JV had been sharing the mooring and was going to share it again.... At this point the captain decided he finally would move his Yacht. They ended up rafting up against another yacht which in my view they should have done from the start. I was rather T'd off as they were completely unapologetic about it. Also possibly rather inexperienced. IMO if you decide to take a mooring with a dingy belonging to a boat of unknown size and shape you are asking for trouble, double trouble in this case.
  18. The torch light parade, seems like the whole island turns up. Really good atmosphere. A top notch firework display and with a band later a fun night all round. Plus these miscreants.... Fishing has been below par in spite of our best efforts. Mackerel have been thin of the ground except on Schole. This is the best Turbot taken (if someone could correct the rotation that would be handy, failed to figure it out on tapatalk) We have had about 6 flatties a day, mostly Brill which were keepers. JV has had one better than average.... I'm sure you will hear more about that. We had a big pod of dolphins follow the boat jumping all round the boat marvelous, hope to post some pics later.
  19. Yes that's the plan Adam Steve
  20. Fear yea not. Spoke to Mark, the banks are fishing well, a few less Turbos than earlier in the season but more Brill now, including some monsters! He did tell me how big they had been caught to.... All the banks are producing but more smaller ones on Schole, as usual. Bass fishing had not been so good but has been picking up very recently.
  21. Haha we will see I guess. I will probably give Mark a call tomorrow.
  22. Has anyone heard how the banks are fishing?
  23. Sounds great Charlie, looking forward to the trip even more.
  24. Thanks for the heads up Mike, Alderney Week I guess is making it extra busy. Glad I am taking my dingy with o/b could be a long run to the pontoon or a long wait for the taxi. I am quite expecting to anchor with good weather forcast well ahead and arriving late after fishing the banks.
  25. I'll bring my cowboy hat [emoji6]
