GREAT NEWS . tweedle dum and tweedle de, from mermaid met me on the boat this morning, after watching there every move checking this and that i turned to them after an hour after still no start and told them they are useless and a disgrace to people who are engineers, i told them to forget it and clean up when they leave, at this point i left. an hour later the phone rings from the manager saying he has had a call from the guys on the boat and it now starts and is running ok, GREAT I THOUGHT WITH A BIG GRIN, the manager requested we go and settle the bill. I said i will once i have been down and started the boat myself well i have just returned from the boat and tried to call mermaid but guess what they close at 4pm. Yes the boat starts lovely, no smoke, only aprox 6-10 cranks and she fires, BUT WAIT A BLOODY MINUTE IT WONT SWITCH OFF. the only way i can turn it off now is disconect the battery AAAARRRRGGGGHH

Like lambs to the slaughter. Looks like the petrol can will have to be connected to the aux motor if I want to go fishing anytime soon, anyone know where I can get a good sail from haha. Still not starting.com.

Hi mark Glad you looked on this link, nige has put me intouch with a guy who knows about these thing and won't take the piss, but first you know this engine better than anybody as you never had a problem starting it and we know it runs sweet. So after work I will go and remove the battery and place on charge over night so on Saturday I can go down with a video camera and do exactly how you discribbed and because this makes sense as I asked them to fit the new stop part as you advised us the spring had disapeared, but you started it no problem. Well know we know how you started it god help mermaid if this works as they will recive a camera shoved up them with a title of, Training video, how to start our own engines without costing

Hi Dave It is a 180hp turbo four They say that when they completed thier work they run the engine to make sure all was ok hmmm ( how did they do this when it was out of the water) on the day of the comp when Clive from sea start came along i watched him completely bleed the system and as he said they could not of run the engine due to him having to do this, a bit of easy start (not good) but it fired and we went fishing, as you say dave no smoke or anything untoward and later that day 26knots was reached. I have been into mermaid and asked why it does not start when its cold, Ed Nugent area manager has said that the guys have been back down to the boat and think air is getting into the fuel. NO sea start done complete check and no leaks at all and fuel pressure all correct. Eds engineers reported back to him saying they got it started after cranking it over for about 80 cranks so as far as they are concerned it starts. Off i march again to Mermaid after thier bill lands on the mat, they really think im going to let my dad pay this

Has anyone had mermaid marine do any work on any diesel inboard, had the boat out for refurb for 6 weeks, mark who dad bought the boat off just turned the key and she started, he then kindly brings the boat with my dad to cobbs quay without any problem at all . Well mermaid had fitted a new wiring loom and a full service with

We will be in and around the harbour saturday too as we are testing our boat VALTON formaly sparta. she has been out for 6 weeks for a complete refit, its been some very late nights after work but she was 99% finished at 11pm last night. all new stainless steal rails and arch complete with rod holders. fusion stereo all electrics rewired and some new toys. Three new pumps just in case Full engine and leg strip down and rebuild by mermaid marine. and been so tired i cant remember the rest. So there could be two of us that needs a tow in on saturday haha Good luck lets hope we both have a day of good trials.

I was on Manta ray when the 28lb ray was caught by Jason Menzies, what a stonker and it totaly zonked Jason out, Looks like The Hyphose guys are hooked on boat fishing now as we all had a great day on Manta Ray.

Hi mark The boat has almost been striped and its not out the water yet ha ha. got some great plans for your old boat. Mermaid have inspected and said you had done a great job looking after the engine and possibly all the engine needs is a high pressure lift pump and the shut down parts sorted as you pointed out to me. Thank you very much for agreeing to sell it to us as its going to make dad very happy when out fishing. also if you find any past paper work you have my address and mybe you could send it to me or i could collect. Thanks. I know a few of them through work so at the moment i am just trying to get good prices once people come to look at the boat. She comes out the water tomorrow. I was at sulterns looking for rob but i understand he has left and gone to nigeria. Some of the other members of pbsbac like your self have been very helpfull and the calls and visits have been made so it should all hopefully fall into place and get sorted. Thanks again.

Thanks jim, just down salterns as I type. Getting advice on bits for the boat refurb. Hopefully I might be able to get it all done in a few weeks instead of 6 weeks so we can then be back in the water ready for the comp fingers crossed.

Thanks Dave i will come along, I will be getting the RNLI to carry out the checks as my wife and various members of her family all work there either on the poole crew or in the offices , so this part is a must and will not be taking back out the harbour with out this done. Hi everyone, although i registered quite some time ago, its only due to purchasing another boat from one of your members that we can now get out fishing again well almost. We bought SPARTA that is a 24ft wilson flyer today and put on our berth in cobbs, it is comming out of the water on Tuesday to be checked and cleaned ect. i am looking to get the whole boat re wired just for peice of mind and to get the mermaid inboard looked over and serviced. The last owner has done a great job with the boat but due to his lack of use i just want it in tip top condition for the winter fishing especialy as my dad is in his 80s and dont want anything to be compromised. So can anyone recomend a good electrician to re wire and tidy it all up. I need a stainless radar arch, and some one who is willing to disclose some pointers where to fish as we dont know any marks as we only moved here 3yr ago and had to sell our arvor to afford the move. We have just completed and paid the family membership and are looking forward to meeting some of you fellow anglers. Any advise welcome Thanks for reading

Sadly for sale to help house purchase, have just moved to the area from Sussex. I bought this boat new from essex boatyards and have only clocked up 85hrs use. She is currently on a berth in Cobbs Quay. She is in imaculate condition. Has been fully serviced last month and has new anti -foul and anodes.
