  1. Hi like yourself I have my own boat and my catch rate wasn't very good, it's not as simple as finding a mark and chucking a bait over. I've been going out with a few old sea dogs( sorry mike and nigel ) and it's mind boggling all the different tactics - winds - tides -baits - rigs etc all that cant be learnt in one day. These guys have many years experience ( you can tell buy the wrinkles ) so my advice is to get a few trips out with a wrinkled one and gain some of there skills. I now catch some amazing fish thanks to these guys
  2. Using the club moulds and a few of mikes I have successfully melted down and turned into various shapes and sized weights 278lb (19.8 stone) of lead...they should keep me going for a while
  3. Congrats on new boat nige.... Saw it online she looks a cracker :-)

  10. Crewed for mike sunday for my first trip to the shambles, We set off at 6.30 am to get to portland slip at 7.30. The sea was calm and the sun was shining. On our third drift mike was in, he was hoping for a "doggie lol" but turned into a codling of around 5-6lb a welcome suprise, next drift my turn and my first ever brill came to the net 3lb 14oz, then a small codling about 3-4lb. It went quiet for a while as the tide slackened,Then in the afternoon mike had two plaice and a rod bender which produced his first turbot of the season, It wasnt a monster but a nice fish, Cheers mike great day out with a unexpected bag of fish

  16. Have been a little obsessed with dolphin mark haha but did venture out to carpark last week. Must try different marks even if just different scenery
  17. I got caught out yesterday with this tide as my tide book predicted low water at around 2pm and 1.1m I came in at mudeford at 4 to find only 1.3 feet of water and dragged my prop for about 20 yards and in Christchurch harbour the same. So thanks alan for the explanation I will keep an eye on air pressures next time.
  18. Yes Christchurch harbour the further I got out the thicker the ice was, got jammed in at one point ... Niggel has some pics of harbour ...
