  1. After loads of wasted trips around poole bay, I decided that wrecking would be the best choice for my first big fish.... Perfect conditions and advice from charlie, led me and the old man to the aeolian sky... To many a member this would be beginners stuff lol... To me, it was the first wreck ive found and seen on the FF/Plotter... Played about anchoring, Messed up a fair few times, But got lucky... At our furthest point off the wreck during the day, And downtide from it, We had the most luck :-/ 3 congers to dad,And a large pout to me on feathers....and a few doggies.... A charter then turned up, And showed us how the anchoring was done (Although we knew,Its alot harder then it sounds) lol.... Once we re-anchored over the wreck, My luck came in... My first fight, And nice conger.... And a nice pollock to dad... But no action on the charter, (Fishing really can be a fluke) Was funny being asked by a charter skipper what i was reeling up, to witch my response was "God knows, Ive never caught a big fish" ;-) Excellent day out.. And although in years to come days like this would be rubbish, Its the best day so far and a good laugh for me and dad...
  2. Well done everyone ;-)
  3. Robs is the way to go nigel, more options to it, at a great price...
  4. Hi Everyone... After all the bad news of thefts lately, I thought i'd share my setup.. Had it for around 3 months now.. Basically its a alarm, that texts/rings upto 5 assigned number's once it has been activated by a thief!! Obviously the 12v battery juice is always the problem when there's no power source.. So i got a decent solar panel/regulator. Attached to battery 2... The battery condition has stayed perfect for the last 3 months ;-), with the alarm always on.... It can have pir/sensor's and loads of other bits... So far its been 100% with my tests... it also has a loud siren.. Not that this stops them, and neither does the alarm ringing me, but at least i'll know.. I can ring the alarm and send commands via mobile, Listen in on my boat as it has a microphone built in.. i use a O2 payg sim, Loaded with a tenner ;-) Probably spent

  10. Couldnt agree more here.... My latest boat has a cd/radio.. Its a good Sony unit..BUT it has no aux port... Cd is useless to me, i have loads, but never use them... All i want is aux, so the iphone with my mp3's can plug in :-( Jack fm is a decent replacment though!!! I have got a fm transmiter for the iphone. Better then nothing i guess..

  14. Awful nigel... The problem with owning something that is maybe flashier then the boat next door, means ur a bigger target it seems.. If only we were happy to be/have nothing in life like the scum who do it ...ppfftt. As no swearing is alowed i'll leave it there....
  15. Hi Jamie As you say it was certainly cold. Managed to get to Force 4 so Diane could buy my present, two new Auto lifejackets and a fuel filter/water separator, went out to lunch and then took Diane shooting. The idea being she could buy me a new gun while we were there, but she didn't take the hint. You got spoilt brian.. Although taking diane shooting, weren't you risking this birthday being your last lol ;-) I got a whoopie cushin and shorts lol.. Oh well, maybe i'll guide her to a fishing shop next year.
  16. Cheers lads... And whats the chances of sharing the same day as brian ;-) Happy bday mate..... Do you spend yours the same way as me-freezing!!! To cold to even celebrate lol... Yep, the cod was my present ;-) (although not my catch) just seeing it was amazing..

BUT just as tide turned bout 3pm neil felt a lump, he had tangled my line, so i thought it was tht.. After fighting for 10mins it came up... A 14lb cod... 1 squid on a pennel!
