  1. Good worK!
  2. Even the fish being caught and landed in our local ports isn't quite what you might think. To us, 'Fresh Fish' is when you catch it and eat it that night, or within the next few days. I have a friend who works in a fish merchants. To them, 'fresh fish' can have been out of the sea for anything up to 28 days, and that's even before it starts it's journey from them to the consumer. I realise that the commercial boats can be out at sea for a long time before they return to port, and that the fish in their holds is on ice, but still...

  5. On that day that Rob & I were at Mudeford on a very low low, we wandered about in the channel and there were loads of tiny flounders darting out from under our feet. Don't think they'll be big enough yet though! But it shows there are some around, and there must be bigger ones.
  6. Happy Birthday!
  7. Proper job Bob!
  8. Well for me, PBSBAC is THE BOMB. Before 2005 I had never been fishing, (apart from in a trout farm when I was about 12) and I had never been in a small boat. So in the last decade I've been on a constant learning curve. I've been on courses, I've absorbed advice, I've been seasick, I've caught my first fish, I DISCOVERED THE PARKSTONE TRADES AND LABOUR CLUB I've been out of sight of land and I've caught PB's in every species that I've caught, but, to top the lot I've met all you guys and gals and the icing on the cake is I've made my best mate since I moved to Dorset in '98. My Sam was born in 2004 and my Dad & I bought Star Turn in 2005 and after an extensive refit we first launched her in 2006. To have been able to leave Poole harbour, go out and catch fish, my Dad to catch fish, and for Sam to catch fish has been beyond description. And even Rob caught fish sometimes! But, to narrow it down a little bit - Highlights: Out with Rob when I got the Opti fitted, Sam catching mackeral & Wrasse, the Eurofighter over Star Turn at the first airshow, this year's C&R bass.. Thanks guys
  9. Actually AJ, for the last couple of days it's happened about 75% of the time that I click on a thread and it lasts for long enough for me to give up and try again 'later'. Not the normal level of service. The hosts might need to do some work on the server, and won't know if we don't tell them?
  10. And here

  15. Sounds brilliant! I'm picking up Rob at 7 then we are heading for Christchurch Angling Centre for 7.15 to join the convoy. Not long now!

  17. I'm picking up Rob (round the corner from Niggle) in the Pajero. Can then go to Christchurch Angling if required? What time there? Can't wait!
  18. Awwww man! And I've just been to the cashpoint!
  19. I did take a camping cooker and warm up tins of beanz'n'sausages once, then used the water to make tea! Not really up to Will's standard! Re the flask- it's all to do with how much the flask is shaken after the coffee is put in it. If you put milk in the flask it will curdle if you shake it- the early signs of this is it tasting odd.
  20. Only when he's awake!
