  5. Can anyone reccomend a TV/Radio/Amp repairman who does a while-u-wait or homevisit service? I've got a dry joint on one the front speaker outputs of my AV receiver which should only take a few minutes to fix (if you wiggle it, it works ), the trouble is it's the hub which everything else plugs into and then sends the relevant signal to my telly, so it's a crucial bit of kit. It's particularly noticeable during a family session of Guitar Hero this afternoon! Previously Mr Fancis Snr has done a splendid job of mending my electricals but in this case I don't want to be without it (i.e send it away/leave with shop to be fixed) as (shock horror, and no suggestions to play cards or read a book thanks!) this means no telly for the duration of it being fixed. Domestic harmony requires TV! I'm OK on soldering but I suspect this may require a little more finesse than I can achieve. And I don't have a precision soldering iron...

  11. I was round at Rob's at 06.30 and once he'd made his sandwiches etc (Get round mine by 6.30 and don't be late he says ) we head off to Mudeford slip. We knew it was a low, low, low tide, but wow! (See other thread with pictures) Anyway, we eventually got out and picked up a few livebait, and then onto our first drift. Literally 30 seconds later Rob is in! A hard fight which woke us up, (as if we hadn't already been up since the crack of sparrows) and netted and boated. On the scales at 7lb (confirmed on dry land) and into the coolbox. We had 5 more during the day which went back to get a bit bigger, with my first decent sized one coming into the scales (also confirmed on dry land) s 3lb 6oz... and into the coolbox. A few others chased baits to the surface, and one or two got off, but the last one of the day went to me. Another good fight, going around the boat, stripping line and keeping the rod well-bent- eventually netted and boated. This was a good one! The scales gave 8lb 6oz! But this one wasn't confirmed on dry land as I decided to let him return to the depths. After a bit of nursing we let him go and he swam back down onto the green, to fight again another day. We had a few mackerel for tea too- so all-in-all a good day on JoJo!
  12. Does that mean you're the tea boy/head chef for a change?
  13. Give Mark Towersey a shout (Mark.outboardtech)- he should be able to advise.

  15. And another, if you think that the trailer is likely to be sitting still for a while (like mine invariably is ), put the whole thing up on axle stands. You can then give the wheels a spin every time you walk past them, just to keep things freed up. Re the rust on the inside of the drums- you would be surprised! Quite tough 'granules' formed up on mine which gave exactly this effect. Turning the wheel collected the granules up on the brake lining until enough were sitting between the lining and the drum to stop it spinning. They had also 'grown' to the extent that they made pulling the drums off the hubs (sto strip and clean)extremely difficult. Salt water is amzing stuff.
  16. There should be some sort of mechanism which stops the brakes coming on when you reverse- this may need stripping and cleaning. Or It could be that the brake linings have come away from the shoes. Or I found (prior to fitting hub flush kit) that enough rust would grow on the inside of the drums to stop the wheels from turning.
  17. I'm not going as far as to say that, Tom. Given the 'right' conditions, there is always potential for a technicolour yawn!
  18. I did! Yay!
  19. Today: The R.M Beach landing was the abridged version where they didn't land on the beach. One of the two Black Cats razzed around a bit. The rest... cancelled. BLOODY WEATHER. Tomorrow is supposed to be 'a bit' better'... Edit: Thursday, when the weather was 'good' When we got 'told-off' buy the RNLI, until we related how we were attempting to bring in the 50m of trailing rope that was on the surface behind THIER BUOY.
  20. That might be the only thing I can do whilst holidaying at PYC if this weather doesn't break! You could always have a paddle around the marina mate Not sure I can cope with the excitement of that 2 days in a row!
