Where are you based Adam? If you need pigment for the gelcoat (to colour the clear gelcoat to match the colour of the gelcoat on the boat), you can get it from the fibreglass place by Poole Lifting Bridge. Better to try and match the gelcoat than paint over the top. Unless of course the area you're repairing is already painted! C.
  2. I wasn't being contentious, all I meant was that I had put 2 and 2 together. Terry had a Microplus which I knew he had been thinking on and off of selling. Adam bought Microplus and wanted to know the year of the engine. Terry mysteriously knew the age of the engine on the Microplus. Case closed. Terry, that isn't stirring. Adam, if it was owned by Terry you've got nothing to worry about. C.
  3. Welcome to the club! C.
  4. Hi Mike Yes, you have definietly come to the right place! Welcome. Join in and you should find answers to all you need to know, and lots that you didn't even know you needed! C.
  5. Ah, so it's THAT Microplus!
  6. Cheers chaps!

Sounds like he's got the knack- better not use him for shark-bait in Croatia then!
  10. Happy Birthday Sam
  11. Not a blag for unearned knowledge- you've joined the club! Put a post in the club only section though and you'll get more info. C.
  12. Greeham Regis Poole (Chris I think?) have been very helpful to me in the past.
  13. We (Rob F & I) launched from Wick on Sunday afternoon, and on the way out we noticed one of those boards with a child seat strapped to it!
  14. I believe some of the Kayakers have fishfinders on their boats, and I don't expect they carry a car battery! I expect there is a 'portable' fishfinder available.
  15. My Aux has it's own fuel tank into which you put pre-mixed 2-stroke. If it runs out I have a measuring jug, petrol and 2 stroke oil on board to mix up some more. I would keep some mixed-up but I use it so infrequently...
  16. I've got a 4hp on my 18' Shetland Family Four (also heavy for it's size, and that's even without Rob aboard ). 4hp pushes it along in all of the conditions that I have tried, but isn't gong to win any races! C.
  17. Might be speaking out of turn here (we had permission for the 17th and I think have both successfully renegotiated), but I believe boat number 3 will be Rob F and myself on Rob's boat JoJo.
  18. It's OK, he's scared the sh1t out of himself and a few of us too! Welcome!
  19. Jim! We're not that kind of club!
  20. I think PBSBAC took 1st, 3rd and 5th.
  21. Thanks guys. Duncan's point (via the helpful Police Officer) regarding positioning the lightboard in such a way as to aid following traffic in judging the distance to the end of the vehicle (big lump of metal sticking out at around windscreen height) makes a lot of sense. I think I'll chop the arms so that the lightboard sticks out as far as the end of the skeg. Due to the ground clearance of the boat/trailer/engine, I tow with the engine fully 'up' with the towing support bracket in place and a prop bag on the prop/skeg. In addition the weight of the engine is distributed across the transom rather than hanging off it. The new 'correct width' lightboard has the correct lights/reflectors on it. I have got some self adhesive orange reflectors to attach to the side of the trailer. Boat trailers are exempt the part about having white/clear reflectors at the front of the trailer (because they narrow to a point, so don't really have a 'front') however, I have a clear reflector to attach to the front of each wheel arch, more to appease any over-zealous Traffic Officer than anything else! Thanks again guys and I hope this is useful to others! C.
