  1. Charlie, I got mine made up in Christchurch Boat Shop - It is one of those mooring buoys which you can pump air into ( about the size of a large football ). You are welcome to borrow mine to remind the guy in the shop what is needed and get another made ( he did a superb job ).
  2. Can't make either weekend I am afraid. However, I will be up for a mid-week trip to the Shambles sometime.

    Conversion

    The link here is to a spreadsheet that will convert these for you. Conversion Spreadsheet First you have to change them to decimal units ( I am assuming they are in Deg Mins ) OSGB 50 38.60N 01 55.57W = 50.6433 N 01.9262W ( OSGB ) Using the spreadsheet converts these to WGS84 as 50.64381 N 1.92759 W or in Deg Mins = 50 38.63 N 01 55.66 W ( WGS84 )
  4. Def the right decision. Popped down to Mudeford Quay today and the sea looked well rough out there ( wonder if Martin ventured out ... , gload I didnt though ). Saw Paul J as he had been fishing in the harbour and my labrador showed how intelligent he is as he decided to use Paul's portable toilet ( which he uses as a bait well )
  5. I am up for a trip out of mudeford tomorrow if anyone wants to crew. If not then will go from Wick. Anyone fancy it ? ( Will need to come back by something like 1 PM though as the LW is at 3 PM ) or could even go out of Lymington. On the other hand - looking at the weather forecast and looks poor here as well - so maybe better stay at home.
  6. Simon, Back then the session expiry time was set to something like 2 hours. This meant that you could log on and would appear as logged on 2 hours after logging off. It is now set to a much more realistic time. Also, search engine spiders increase the number of logged on users - probably was this that caused the increase then.
  7. Adam, OK - Have got the message - no need to call me ( assuming you are calling around ). cheers Paul
  8. Adam, No problem here, if it is too rough, I would rather it get called off then travel all that way to get thrown around. However, boat is all ready to roll if it is on
  9. Blimey, I see what you mean. Last time I looked they were forecasting temp of 13 deg C. Forecast now is for cold / sleet, snow with a southerly wind. ( Not that I know the best direction for wind there but southerly would seem to be a good direction ?

    Salt-x Trial

Got my bottle of Salt-X today - fast service from Guernsey. Will test it out post-burnham.
  11. All the best Dean.
  12. Kam, Metcheck - enter "Burnham-on-Sea" and NOT Burnham !! ( I made exactly the same mistake, the other one is somewhere in the freezing north )

    Cartoon

Slap it onto the site petitioning for hermit crab cruelty - I am sure they will just love it !
  14. As I was saying ..... and they are smaller tides I think !

    Squid

I get mine from Talbot Frozen Foods in Christchurch - last time I got some ( just before christmas ) it was a box of 12 at
  16. Kam, No need for Alderney ring I would say, but I will still have mine rigged I think but will not steam the anchor out in 6 ft of water this time If the depth is 6ft I will steam over top of anchor and lift it out manually. If it is high water then will probably be around 30 ft at the same mark. ( That is what the tidal height difference is like ). When you get to the slipway, walk to the end and take a look at the tidal height marker - awesome ! Been looking forward to the trip for weeks now. PS: Metcheck said snow forecast for Sunday, which I thought was strange and then I realised that I was looking at Burnham ( somewhere in the extreme north ) as opposed to Burnham-On-Sea. Temperature forecast is much warmer at this one

    Cod Farming

  18. Adam / Coddie, If you are insured with Haven-Knox Johnston ( which I suspect you will be ) then the online site www.boatinsure.co.uk are exactly the same people. ( I knew this but confirmed it when I changed my engine as I had them phone back - I had to return the call and got Haven Knox ). The reason I am mentioning this, is you may find them cheaper online. Anyway, using
  19. Dunno - according to metcheck it looks bloody freezing !

    Cod Farming

However, From their own website you can see that they are NOT feeding their cod with sandeels. Cod Farm FEED Organic cod feed uses only off-cuts of fish caught for human consumption. The parts of the fish that we don

    Cod Farming

Fred, I can see what you are saying from searching up articles on cod farming..... =============================================== The fish are fed either commercially available pellets or a moist

    Cod Farming

I don't think it will be such an issue to be honest. Cod in fish and Chip shop batter, I doubt that most punters would be able to tell the difference between farmed or wild. Besides, it won't be long until there is no choice anyway !

    Cod Farming

No catch cod. Sustainable Cod Farming

  25. Tom, Sounds like you have bought something illicit at the show
