    Launching Wick

No problems I would have thought, I have seen some big boats launched there ( Orkney 590 - Quiksilver etc ). Maverick launched OK - just need to keep an eye on the lip at the end of the slipway ( retrieve on higher water advisable ). But there again its easy to say it will be OK when not launching myself
  2. No problem. Just tried the J Tides program that coddy has highlighted and have to say it is well impressive - I like the layout, looks much more "pretty" than wxtide.

Adam, That's my council tax you are stealing

    Launching Wick

Coddy, True, but that ( technically ) is the case with the Wick car park as well. Although I cant see how they can enforce the charges for a trailer which is no longer attached to the car and is in the trailer park. The Willow Way car park is still cheaper than Wick ( which costs

    Launching Wick

Gordon, You can leave car and trailer in the other car park just off Sopers Lane ( after you turn left off of Sopers Lane towards Wick ). It is only less than 5 minutes walk and is half the price as well.
  6. Studied the stuff on their website and noted that the sizing diagrams were all calculated for planing vessels. Therefore, I fired off an e-mail with details of my Orkney and explaining how she porpoises if I trim out at all + chine walks when running at high speed. The response was :- "Use the ST980-40 and yes the porpoising and chine walking will be eliminated. Absolutely! " Tempting..... - I await Adam's trials with interest. PS; Are the tabs small enough to fit in a suitcase as I have a friend in USA who might want to give them to me as a present !
  7. I have some back copies of Sea Angler and one has an eleven year old Sam Chapman with his latest catch. How much to scan and post it
  8. That would be a negative point agreed
  9. Some people do ! All I was trying to say was the fact that someone sponsors our site should be a plus point when considering which product to buy ( all other factors being equal of course ).

    1000 Post

Marlin Master now but I was so, so tempted to change the settings for a laugh
  11. Jake, Sounds good. I have used the Salt-X on my fishing rods and reels and much impressed with way I managed to remove the salt marks / blue corrosion to the rod rings from one of my rods. No real major requirement to flush my engine with Salt-X yet as I usually run out of Wick , where the water is fresh ( ish ), but could be a good idea in the winter when running out of Mudeford.
  12. Gordon, As Simon says, phone him and ask, I went down to his workshop a few years ago and got my alderney ring from him. Really nice chap and couldn't be more helpful. However, it should be remembered that Anka Yanka sponsor our site..
  13. It is an interesting judgement ( as was the outcome from the Demon case a few years previously ). In the Demon internet case, the outcome was that if the poeple running the forum remove any posts, then they are liable if defamatory or libellous remarks are not removed. Seems fair enough to me though, if someone wants to "bad mouth" someones else on a public forum, then they had better be able to substantiate their allegations ( So I think you are OK there Fred )

    Cushdy

Not the most flattering of photos I have to say ! - It was actually freezing cold when that photo was taken.

    Cushdy

and this boat looks rather familiar ! Cushdy Definitely recommend this boat - well looked after.
  16. Saw this - may be of interest to someone Alderney Ring
  17. Two new tyres though which would set you back
  18. Paul, Did you catch anything at all ? I am tempted to try out tomorrow. ( If not I might take the boat for a spin in the harbour ). Off to check the weather forecast now
  19. James, Won't you need some hefty weights to drag on the 2nd ? - The tides look quite big to me then.
  20. Only fish I have seen on the sonar and then caught were those herring in Poole Harbour ( and even then I was astounded that I had actuallyused the sonar to find them ! ). I guess that is why I am not in the 10% who catch 90% of the fish group day every day eh
  21. Easily done ( and I don't have to lift a finger.... ). Go to the main page of the site, select "Submit a story" and type away !
  22. Yes - from the IR site :- What do I need to know about postal imports and gifts? When goods are posted from outside the EU customs duty is only payable if the amount of duty is
  23. Now that is funny
  24. The E-Tec's flush by running a hose into the tell tail ( which is conveniently the size of a hosepipe ) and then flushing the water through the engine backwards ( without it running ). I was toying with how to flush it with Salt-X and only way I can think of is to run it in a dustbin ( not sure it will fit in though ).

    More Toys!

Interestingly, I was toying with getting some to stop the boat porpoising at speed when the engine is trimmed out to any degree. ( I figure that they will help to lift the sterm and drop the bow without having to run with the engine trimmed in fully. ). I will get a better idea though once I have been out more than the three times I have managed since the new engine was fitted ! PS: Mystified why you would thing they would induce porpoising Mike ( all the claims made indicate the reverse ) ?
