  1. Just so you know what to expect. Picture of Neo post trip the day after going on last years trip.
  2. Launching :- The tractor takes boat and trailer to waters edge, crew member will have waders and boat is pushed off trailer into water. ( Crew member stays with boat while trailer is towed back to top of beach ( you get to hang precariously on the tractor ). Trailer is parked alongside others ( mine is easy to ID as it is not a common Indespension one ). Retrieval: Beach the boat into the mud and jump out with waders, then go with tractor to collect trailer and winch onto trailer as per normal. Tractor will then tow you back up the beach. It is very well organised and in some ways easier than retrieving at say Mudeford, because you beach the boat into mud as opposed to rocks and stone. PS; The sand gets everywhere ( I will try to dig out the picture of Neo post-Burnham ! )
  3. and just for clarity here it is :-
  4. Decided to pop around Charlie's to see progress on the new boat. I never realised just how big the boat was. It looks absolutely huge. I took a couple of pictures which are on the site photo album. Whilst there, had a call from Mark B who was out trialling Enticer. Apparently managed 35 knots ( so much for "well I am going to run the engine in despite what Evinrude say " ). As I was near Baiter, popped down to get a couple of shots of Enticer - these also on the site photo album. Interesting watching Mark retrieve ( would have helped but my waders were in christchurch )....... The anchor wasnt quite holding, so boat + ryan was drifting away from Baiter whilst Mark was wading out - water was right at the top of his waders - nearly got a good soaking ( I would have had to run back to the car for the camera in that case ) E-Tec sounded beautiful I have to say.
  5. I was just about to suggest the same place as well. Well recommended ( where else would you be recommended to wait until next week before buying something "because we will be getting some much cheaper ones in next week ..." ).
  6. I went a few years afo and it was pretty naff then. Sounds like it has got worst. I was going to go with Gordon, but Gordon phoned on Friday and didn't sound too keen on going, which was strange as I also was thinking it could be a waste of time, so we decided not to go. What a good decision Instead spent the day replacing a set of rollers on the trailer and adjusting the rollers and boat position ( hopefully making launching easier ). Then replaced the hitch as it was getting somewhat corroded. Finally, added a catch on the seat boxes to stop them from tilting when fishing. BTW: Bought the catches from the Protex site recommended in an earlier post, and I can heartily recommend them - superb.

  9. BASS Sportsfishing Video The BASS Sportsfishing Society UKBass released the above film. Watch and learn..... =============================== Below is part of the article, the rest can be found on the BASS website (URL above ) The notion that bass do not inhabit the inshore zone has been much publicised in recent months, by those opposed to any increase in the Minimum Landing Size for bass. They claim that all bass over the current mls of 36cm go offshore - out of the range of those who fish from small boats. ( Jimbob knows this not to be true ! ) The fact is, this alleged mass-migration is a complete myth and if we allow bass to grow to larger sizes, by way of an increased MLS, we will once again be able to catch bigger bass from the shore and from small inshore boats. If you don't believe, that bigger bass were once available to anglers and commercial fishermen, then please take a look at this short film (with accompanying soundtrack). It shows how bass fishing used to be - before the decimation of our mature bass stocks - and how good it could be again, if we implement an MLS geared to restoring our bass resource by allowing more fish to grow to maturity, rather than killing them as juveniles, as the existing MLS allows.
  10. Havent tried it yet but a friend of mine went to Fishworks in Christchurch High Street and said it was superb.

    Live Bait

Me too please !!. I saw someone fishing with smelt last summer and they were catching bass in the run.
  13. Simon, I must get to see your trailer sometime, as I need to get the rollers adjusted n mine to make retrieval a little easier.

    Rope

That is the same guy I used. BarryEdwards. Top notch. Furthermore, he is quoting discount for sea angling clubs, so is it worth making an enquiry martin ( I would be happy to do this if you wish ) ?

    Rope

Can I also recommend that you go for nylon rope for the anchor rope - it is so much easier to handle than the cheap polypropylene stuff. More expensive but worth paying extra for in my opinion. I bought some form e-bay and the guy on there who sold me the rope could not have been more helpful. Search for rope using the search tool on the forum ( not forgetting to change the posts older than bit as well ). Happy hunting.

    Happy Birthday

All the best for yesterday Duncan. Hope you had a good birthday.
  18. I went there last year as a bit of a novice. You will have a buddy boat with you, there is no way I could fish there without one, so you had better have a buddy boat ! ( This year I shant be needing one which goes so slow ). Waders are a good idea, just to hold the boat while they fetch the tractor to tow your trailer out. Expect the boat to be full of sand after the trip PS: I was daunted by the huge tides but didnt really notice it, because you are fishing in shallow water ( 10-20 ft ish if I recall ) and there is no need to steam the anchor out !
  19. My favourite is from Brian the Whelk :- "I am a Whelk and am now homeless - thanks to a damn hermit crab called Sebastian. Stop trying to protect these home stealing crabs" priceless
