  1. I disagree - Neo is not capable of such speed and I assure you they disappeared off my face at around 4 kots
  2. SharkTrust NFSA Original Letter
  3. Please let James be in the same position, then we can get a chance to catch up
  4. Gordon, I would have been up for it but it is looking like I may have to work unfortunately
  5. Dan, When are you thinking of fishing out of Lymington? I will be more than happy to "buddy" up with you and if you have problems with the Vectra my X-Trail will pull your boat up Lymington slipway no problemo. Sunday though I am fishing the species comp ( provided Gordon or someone can crew for me ) and that will be out of Christchurch ( so we can bag up on the mullet again ).
  6. Dan, Look up the max towing weights from the specification of the car. I would imagine towing on teh flat will be OK ( The Mondeo can tow up to 1,800 KG on braked trailer ). I think Adam tows with a Vectra. Your fun will start when trying to tow the boat out from a slipperly slipway.....
  7. Jack, I don't know about your rod but the one I have is the new ones from Fladen and they are certainly not toys ( although I must admit it would look like a toy rod from a distance ). The rod is rated 10-20 lb but I wouldnt fancy catchinganything heavier than say 5lb on it. I like the look of the slightly heavier rated one though, so next purchase could be one of those I think.
  8. Becks, My work colleague has a Orkney Day Angler and reads this forum, I am sure he will post if there is anything specific re: Orkney Day Anglers . However, I am pretty sure there will be nothing particularily bad re: the Day Angler ( I certailnly hope not as this is the boat I am considering getting next )
  9. As mentioned on another post myself and Gordon ventured out of Lymington on Sunday. We saw Adam parking his trailer and gave him a lift back to the slipway ( I couldn;t be asked to walk all the way up the raod so paid to park in the car park ). Adam and Paul J set off to go bassing around Freshwater Bay, we opted for a trip after the smoothhounds in the other direction and we were partnering Ultimate Chaos on their maiden voyage. Since I have yet to fail to catch a smoothie from the particular mark, I was confident. We opted to go straight to the mark so as not to miss the slack water but on arrival the tide was already flooding and weed was pouring in. The tide tables had the tide about 2 hours later - spooky. So much weed and no fish, so as I was sure Ultimate Chaos wouldnt want to blank on their first trip we moved in closer where you get small ( and I mean small ! ) bream. Sure enough - bream were had along with a small schoolie. After an hour of this it was getting tedious and we wanted something bigger. Persuaded Gordon that Rich had told me Seagull Island was a good spot - I couldnt see this on the plotter but recall it being near to Beaulieu River exit. Steamed over to Beaulieu and anchored off there - weed city again, so we moved in close into around 10 Ft of water by a "fishy" looking slope. I cast a ragworm out onto the bank using Helen's "toy" rod ( see other thread ) and blow me down a fish grabbed the bait and charged off. "Bass On!". After a reasonable fight on the 10-20lb Solid-C rod a 3lb 8oz bass was onboard. Nice one Rich Then it quietened down and even the bream had stopped biting. As it was getting near to slack water ( well 3 hours from slack according to the tide table ! ) we went back to the "smoothies" mark. Fished through the slack and Ultimate Chaos had a doggie and nothing else. As the tide ebbed and we were failing to get any bites decided that Will would at least want to take some fresh mackeral back up, so headed for the Sconse buoy where it was well rough ( wind now westerly against the tide ). Ultimate Chaos looked like a cheesecutter in the waves - Will was against going aroudn the island in that rough sea and I cant blame him - however, drifted the race past Hurst castle through some pretty rough water and left them to head back to the slip ( now armed with mackeral ). We decided to drift the shingles bank ( from the Shingles buoy ) with a live Joey. I used my uptider with no weight on it at all ( keeping an eye out for seagulls as they will grab a mackeral which nears the top of the water ). First drift and my uptider crashes over - "Bass on!" as it charges off with my mackeral - a superb fight as I am fishing with no weight attached as well. Gordon is now saying something like "you jammy git!" - I beg to differ, I have been learning from others Second drift and Gordon bags a Bass. BW then joins us but no more bass in two more drifts. Intention was to fish for stingers but I was far too tired to steam back to the stinger mark, so called it a day ). Fantastic day out in the end - weather was great - two bass ( my first from this venue ) - shame about the smoothies and nice to meet Will and his friend ( whose name I forget )

Martin, Don't play around with that part of the site you stupid f*****g b****d
  11. Dan, WHilst I am sure they are Bournemouth and West Hants owned now, I don't seem to be able to find details on the web. You could try asking overdraft ( on this forum )
  12. Will, Shame we didn't get into some Smoothies. That is the first time I have never caught one from that mark and the weed was horrendous wasn't it !. The "toy" rod you refer to is the Fladen Solid-C rod (
  13. Adam, We are going from Lymington tomorrow, launching at around 7 AM. The plan for us is to head west and go for the smoothies and stingers + hopefully some bass as well.
  14. Dan, I did get some prices in the past. I think there are some on the web and if i recall the Tuckton ones are owned by BWH Water Authority. I will see if I can track down the URL.
  15. No problem Jack we are heading East Tight lines.

    Sowley

I guess it would be impressive catching a stingray in a kayak as I guess they will tow the kayak along ( but I note you fish anchored ). We will be out there on Sunday so a bit of a shame hearing the weed is still bad. ( I guess some close in fishing will be needed ). If you are out on Sunday we will keep an eye out for you.
  17. Nice one Rich, I will let you know how we do on Sunday. If it is anything as good as your day then I will be a happy man. I presume from Charlie's remark you are off to fish Portland Harbour on Sunday ?

    Google Problem

There seems to be a problem with Google..... www.google.co.uk I entered the term "French Military Victories" and selected "I feel lucky" and there seems to be a problem
  19. Rich, We are going for a 7AM launch - will fish all day into evening if Gordon is up for it. Kam is looking for crew. I noticed that the shallow water was not as bad for weed as the slightly deeper spots, so stingers he we come PS; By "back of island" I assume you mean in the Solent near the BOM....

    Rod Weights

Alun has got one that size. Personally, my only reservation is the Solid-C rod is a little short ( I prefer something a little longer ). I suspect the guy on E-Bay may be the same person selling at Lymington market. The 10-20 is
  21. Maybe the reason they get away with it is not the white ensign. Maybe it is because they are armed with sub machine guns
  22. Kam, As you have probably read elsewhere, Will ( on his new boat which I don't know the name of ) and Neo are launching from Lymington at around about 7 AM on Sunday. The more the merrier I say ( but so long as the faster boats don;t get to the good smoothie marks before me )
  23. If you have a choice between b&w larger screen and colour with slightly smaller screen I would say go for the colour. I imported a Garmin GPS sounder from the States ( saving a pretty penny or two as well ) and my BIG regret was not getting the colour version - much more readable in sunlight. Also, a separate fishfinder to GPS gives more flexibility but I have both on the same unit - saves cost but means less room for the display. Finally, get one with an external antenna - I got one with an internal antenna and picks up satellitses OK but the signals would be better with an external antennae and the extra cost is small (

    Rod Weights

Alun, Must say, I fancy getting the 20-40 Solid-C rod. The light weight one is great for bream fishing but not enough power for the bigger fish. If getting one there is a guy on Lymington market on Saturdays who sells them for
  25. No problems with drying out and access for the bankside moorings at Tuckton and I haven't seen any particular vandalism ( they are around out of the "main drag" so I guess are not frequented by your everyday vandal types ? ). However, they are easily accessible, so the potential is always there I guess. They are also quite sought after I believe ?
