  1. Charlie, I wondered why everyone was talking about your Pajero having water up to its doors. Now I know !
  2. I would also like to add my thanks to all the organisers and helpers, particularily the hard work that PJ has put in to making the event a resounding success, despite all the weather gods attempts to prevent this. It was good to see Spike Spears as well. Rob's prize wind were well earned, I know he was not expecting quite that much !
  3. Neo will be popping her nose out to see what conditions are like and then probably running to the harbour !
  4. There was an entry form on the "rules.doc" which was attached to the front page. However, seems to have disappeared when the document was updated.
  5. Neo will be fishing with myself and work colleague Steve ( Westray )
  6. BASS - RSA "Strategy" Draft RSA Strategy Paul Beresford (Mole Valley, Conservative) | Hansard source To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs whether he plans to implement the recommendations in the Net Benefits report on the development of the UK's Recreational Sea Angling sector, in particular the recommendation that bass be considered as a recreational species. Jonathan R Shaw (Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Marine, Landscape and Rural Affairs) and Minister for the South East), Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) | Hansard source Our plans to take forward the recommendations in the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit report "Net Benefits" concerned with inshore fisheries in England including Recreational Sea Angling, were addressed in Defra's "Charting a New Course". These publications are available in the Library of the House. These plans included a commitment to consult on measures to increase the number and size of sea bass available to benefit both recreational anglers and commercial fishermen. My decision not to increase the minimum landing size of bass was announced on 25 October. This announcement included a number of other measures to benefit bass stocks and recreational sea angling in general. ===================================================
  7. Had one of those replies as well. I was quite impressed, until I realised that every one else had one The "We hope that a solution that is proportionate and practical can be identified by the SFC. " is quite interesting as this implies that a clarification of the byelaw might occur ( This would make sense I feel ). Time will tell.
  8. Nice one Neal and hopefully you can repeat that for the next cod comp.
  9. Alun, Wish I could join you tomorrow but work is hectic at the moment unfortunately. Hope you do well and make me envious ( again )
  10. Suggest you all give Alec a ring as I spoke to him yesterday ( Unfortunately, I forgot I have football and the xmas party plus far from Christchurch for me to collect personally but (I have someone collecting mine) - If I was able to collect, I would be happy to arrange a "bulk" order, but I shan't be able to do this ). Alec is considering fishing the comp himself and perhaps if there are sufficient orders, maybe delivery to Baiter would be an option ? - or perhaps someone on here who lives nearer could arrange to collect everyone's bait ?
  11. Paul, It is now on the poster on the front page of the website and on the rules.doc file that you can download. Times are now :- Book in from 8:15 Comp Start 9:00 Scales Close 4:30PM

  15. Alun. If I can get away from work, I was planning on a Wed trip off the Needles with work colleague Steve as crew. All depends on how well the Royal Mail system is coping with all these christmas cards.

  20. Bass MLS Bill Wiggin (Leominster, Conservative) | Hansard source To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs when he decided to keep the minimum landing size for bass at 36cm; and if he will make a statement. Jonathan R Shaw (Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Marine, Landscape and Rural Affairs) and Minister for the South East), Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) | Hansard source I announced my decision to retain the minimum landing size for bass at 36 centimetres on 25 October 2007. My decision was made following the meeting I convened on 1 October 2007 to discuss this issue with representatives from the sea angling and commercial fishing sectors. Details of my announcement are set out in the autumn 2007 edition of 'Fishing Focus', available in the Library of the House. CEFAS Funding Bill Wiggin (Leominster, Conservative) | Hansard source To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what level of funding he plans to provide to the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science in each of the next five years; and if he will make a statement. Jonathan R Shaw (Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Marine, Landscape and Rural Affairs) and Minister for the South East), Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) | Hansard source The Department has committed the following minimum levels of funding to CEFAS over the next five years: Minimum funding (
  21. Is the Singles Bank the one you end up fishing if you go out too often without the FPO's permission ? Seriously though, the Shingles Bank should be treated with care on a LW spring as it dries out in some places and has some huge standing waves on it whenb the tide is running on the big tides. Probably best to head south of the Fairway buoy if unsure ? Other place to watch, although not strictly on the way to the Needles is the Beerpan off Hengistbury Head - I have pictures of the remains of my Skeg from fin ding this.
  22. Storm Havoc Veronica Taylor, watch officer at the coastguard, said the forecast for the south coast was severe gale force nine, rising to storm force 10. "Ms Taylor said she expected leisure boats to remain ashore. "Anybody who goes out on a boat who doesn't know what they are doing is risking life and limb, if you do it in these conditions it is significantly more dangerous," she said.
  23. Rob, You did read the WHOLE article did you ???
