    hi all

Welcome to the forum Mervyn. Have you acquired Gnasher's old boat by any chance ? ( Your avatar looks familiar ).
  2. Welcome to the forum steve and if you keep an eye on the boat buddies section you will probably find someone looking for crew - feel free to ask. Paul
  3. Gordon, A tip for the next comp. Order your bait from Alec and you will not have to commit to taking it until the day before. I would be happy to collect for you prior to the comp if you like. Or maybe we can get a batch of orders ?
  4. No problem - all sorted now. IP address doesn't actually help as the forum references a database which is referred to by domain name
  5. Forum calendar is broken - ( This has been broken since we moved servers I think - some software changes needed - on the case now .... )
  6. Just had an invoice from Nominet as domain is up for renewal. The registrar should have done this - so currently onto them to do this. According to letter we have 10 days. If there is any interruption you will know why - but should get this sorted out in this time hopefully.
  7. Done
  8. Official : - COMPETITION IS POSTPONED AND WILL NOW TAKE PLACE ON - 16th DECEMBER ( Posted For Paul J as he has no access to the site at the moment )
  9. Charlie, Avon Baech is the one next to the run at Christchurch harbour. Due to its proximity, I would expect the forecast to be almost identical.
  10. I have had to reduce the max number of PM's which can be stored as we are eating up our database to quickly ( Club members still have more storage than non club members ). Could I ask users to remove old PM's - you can always archive them and send yourself an e-mail containing them. If this is not done then I will have to reduce the quotas further.
  11. Latest forecast attached. Pretty colours aren't there
  12. State of cod stocks as reported by CEFAS.. - No recommendation to fish for more cod here ..... North Sea Cod Stocks
  13. Dorset Echo Article
  14. My e-mail was as follows :-
  15. Only fish caught on private boats can be recorded - otherwise I would get confused as to what was caught on charter boats and what was caught on private boats.
  16. Correct - with the proviso they are still limited to 2 anglers
  17. Disagree that petitioning them will not help. After all it is exactly what the commercials have done. Sitting quietly has done our cause no good whatsoever ( look at he Bass MLS fiasco ). If no-one complained then they ( SFSC ) wouldn't know they were failing to act in all stakeholders interests.
  18. Sent mine off a few days ago and quite a bit shorter than the ones above. ( Haven't got it to hand at the moment. ). I received a reply saying I could continue fishing in my Orkney if it is less than 12m long ( no problem there then ) and that my e-mail will be put with the others received for consideration. The more e-mails they receive then the more they will realise what they are doing, so keep the pressure on ( IMHO ).
  19. The forecast out to 4 days from Windguru is now available on the front page of the website. A bit more work and I will get it included at the bottom of the forum.

    Day 2

Definitely some cod out there. Tom called in with his 21lb one as well. plus 10lb and 6lb cod for his crew. ( He was amazed that I already knew about them - word gets around quickly )
  21. I note that there are very few fish recorded this month. Can I take this opportunity to remind you to either :- 1) Register your catch using the Report a Catch link or 2) Call me to register your catch. Reporting catches in messages in the forum cannot necessarily be taken as an "Official" catch report. So far there are only 4 fish recorded .....
  22. That will be interesting. In the article it states the fish was 36 inches long. Was this exactly 36 inches do you know ? I checked on the bass tape measure and this gives around 18lb - but the fish looks pretty fat though. Would be interesting to compare the exact length with the measure.
  23. As you may have read, the Southern Sea Fisheries have informs some of the local charter boats that the 12m limit on fishing boat size is deemed to apply to them. If implemented and agreed then this would mean those safe big cats will be a thing of the past. If, like myself, you think this ruling is ludicrous then please make your opinions known by writing to Ian Carrier,Southern SFC - Clerk and Chief Fishery Officer at southernsfc@btconnect.com and also cc. jonathan.shaw@defra.gsi.gov.uk Your voice does make a difference. PS: You will even get a reply
  24. A reliable source has informed me that James has a 19lb cod today ...... Such great news to hear sitting here at home with a bad cold
  25. Tom, I understood this to be the case too. However, I think weighing has to be done on land and with a witness - so no weighing and release at sea ?
