  4. Phew! That's good to know thanks Chris. I was a bit worried because on my old boat even though I'd drained it down in the yard, there was a lock/trap in the system and it did cause some damage when we had a really cold winter (about 5 yrs ago) after that I had to dismantle part of the system to get all the water out each winter.
  5. I've always had my boat out of the water during the winter and drained down the raw water and fresh water side of the cooling system (in-board diesel). But this year with my new boat I'm in the water for my first winter. The fresh water side has anti-freeze in it so that's ok. My question is, if you stay afloat for the winter, do you drain down the raw water side after every trip? Or just when you think we're in for a cold snap? Any guidance/experiences would be appreciated. Cheers, Rob

    Boat Haulage

Looks like I may have finally sold my boat but the buyer is not local and needs haulage. Does anyone know of a local haulage firm who could take a 28ft boat, 11ft beam? Long haul. Cheers, Rob

  18. The link below is for my lovely old motor cruiser that is for sale on boatbid.com http://www.boatbid.com/boatbid_catalogue.php?a=1207 I've owned her for 8 seasons and she is a good reliable boat. She's kept at Rockley and in regular use if anyone wants a look or sea trial. At £6500 reserve somebody will get a lot of boat for their money. Reason for sale is I just want something quicker and lower maintenance. Auction ends on 29th September. Spread the word! Cheers, Rob

    Boat Show

Interesting to hear that. I looked at the 660 parker quite seriously but the price just kept going up the longer the deal went on so I pulled out in the end. Glad they decided to back down. Nice boat....I'll be interested in how you get on with her.
  20. Thanks to Sam for organising....It was our first comp together and me and my son Chris really enjoyed it. Thanks to Martin and family for letting us join them on Madness, good skippering and what a boat!!. Chris must have enjoyed it because he's offering to do household chores today in exchange for fishing tackle!that's never happened before! Good to meet a few more members at the bbq. Cheers, Rob
  21. I will give it a go on Sandpiper with my 8 yr old son but may have to fish a bit further inshore if that's okay with the rules? We cruise at 6-7 knots so it makes it a long day from Rockley (especially with kids on board!) I've got room for a few more if anybody is short of a boat. But, if anyone has room for us two then that would be good, it's our first comp so would be good to get to know some of you. Cheers, Rob

Brilliant footage, will have to save up for one. Shame about the soundtrack.....how about a bit of Paul MACartney on the next one? 😉
  23. Well I saw more species afterwards in the fish and chip shop than I did in my first competition! I'm blaming the north easterly! Anybody have any luck?
