  1. Paul, yes the tides are dropping, but if its windy, I'd steer clear for safety reasons, as you wont have a buddy boat. Why not give Southbourne a try?? Or have a drift along the Swash?? It would save dissapointment farther west, if weather conditions aren't easing. I'm supposed to be out on Tuesday on the Shambles, so will write up the trip on my return........dont be holding ure breath now!! Rich
  2. This weekend looks pants...........as does the early part of next week. BB and I are going out to try and nab some flatties on tuesday for one of the anglings mags, and the skippers reckons we only have the weather for the morning Best I get me best flattie head on and try and bag one for the PBSBAC!! Rich Martin.........have we any caps left...mines floating in the intercoastal in Clearwater Florida!!! Have a peek for it next time ure over there please Coddy.....Ta!!

PJ.......it was Marks T shirt that got me........the chef homed in on us!!!!
  7. Gazza, as a retired plod, I'd offer this advice. Firstly, ask your insurer which anti theft devices THEY reccommend. then follow simple rules. Physical security is always the major deterrent to would be thieves, they just love the easy option, less risk on them. Try and utilise more than one detterrent, either a wheel clamp, and chain the thing to an immovable object.....not your gas main inlet ......... Some of these hitch covers are pretty effective. Also look at where you are parking the thing. Try and avoid dark areas, if its at home, and down the side of your house, bang up an Infra red movement detector coupled to a security light, strategically placed to avoid flooding neighbours front rooms, but allowing would be rascals to be spotted from the road. Also, mini cameras are dirt cheap these days, couple one of these to a spare hard drive on your PC, and bingo, 24hr surveillance at home, when away from home, ask yourself a simple question, would i leave a fifty quid note under a rock here?? No?? Then dont leave your trailer there unlocked or shodilly secured. Theives are cowards, and will always take the easy option......so park yours next to an unlocked trailer!!!!! Rich

My best tips for you mike are as follows....for Brill, give your rod to Adam, and for Turbs....hand it to Martin. For specimen sezed Bass ignore the skipper totally and fish with a dead lifeless old launce, and for a great eveing out, get into the harbour lights for the old shirt reading the quiz..........top entertainment!! Looking forward to the trip myself, will be good to see my pal Phat Mark again. Rich
  9. .................reminds me of a joke T......how does a french lady hold her liquer.............I wont answer, its a family show. R
  10. I thought that Hake are becoming ararity in nets these days too. I personnaly think that any move by any supplier who recognises the drastic reduction in fish stocks in home waters to take such a bold stance, for whatever reason, should be applauded. I myself am doing my bit, by not catching any cod leaving stocks for other dedicated anglers such as Adam and Gordon........I just hope they appreciate it. Tongue in cheek I know, but if all supermarkets stop flogging the stuff caught from the North Sea, it may have a positive impact on the fish that move towards our waters. Rich
  11. Thats scallop frills for bream, not the lacy bits off ure wifes smalls!!!!! Also try live prawns for the old Bream, they love em.......and if the Bream aren't biting on prawn, send them over to me......I also love prawns!! Seriously, scallop frills are a top bait, if you can find a hotel that serves them, scrape out the shells and freeze it all down. Rich
  12. Terry.............theyre payming me a monthly retainer in the guise of a pension to keep tabs on him. Rich

  14. What Lord Tanlaw failed to mention is that he indeed, owns the "Double Summertime" company and being the majority shareholder, is going to make a killing from his trial. Cynic.........moi?????? Nah!!!!! Rich
  15. Mike, who did you use, and what did they charge? Call outs etc?? Rich
  16. Being a continental rig, Duncan, they are designed for smaller species, as larger fish will probably pull through the stopper bead on the back of the snood, or snap the main trace. I can see an advantage in keeping up with the opposition in matches, but as far as non competitive fishing goes, I cant really see a good use for them. I'm just after input from others who have used them. Rich
  17. Absolute corker on the fly......I bet that went like a train!!!!
  18. Fishing with a couple of Internationals on these friday comps, they have all switched to these two way beads, to keep up with the European style of comp fishing They alledge that these rigs, if tied correctly, are virtually tangle free. They enable long flowing snoods of up to a metre long to be used where otherwise they would tangle for sure. I bought a few from Mike, @ UK hooks, and copied a few that BB tied for me, but have found a better supplier in the Form of Mikes Tackle, in Scotland. He is flogging them at .99p for 20, well cheaper than anywhere else, so I bought a few bags of these, and began tying. The only down side, is the weight of bait that can be placed on the hook, as these rigs rely on the freeflowing action of tide influence and a heavy bait could cause tangles in longer traces. I'd like to hear if any other forum members have used these beads yet, I'm sure they will take off after their viewing in BFM. They also make very tidy rigs, and its cheaper than using crimps beads and swivels. Any views, please post. Rich
  19. I personally think that Mikey should shell out some of his squirreled millions and buy a labour Peerage, then he can put forward all our views, when the Chamber is relativley empty, and get through some cracking laws. Rich
  20. What sort of format had you discussed Adam?? What about a species specific comp, say Mullet in May, Stingers in june,Bream in july, Bass Aug, conger Sept etc. and only target one species per comp?? The only downside I can see is timings, three hour comps?? Anyway, whatever the format, I'm well up for it, so long as Cod don't appear on the list!!!!! I'm absolutely J Arthur Rank at boating them!!! Rich
  21. Bloody hell Andy, a hundred squid for your DSC licence???? Was the intructor wearing a mask and a black and white striped top riding a horse called black bess?? tHATS DAYLIGHT ROBBERY!! ooops caps lock...scuse me. Hooks

Terry, dont worry about hooks for next weekend, Ive sorted tackle out for the day, have made some rigs with Mikes red worm hooks, but have also made up some traces with small circles on....havent tried these yet for the Plaice this season, so will give them a try. You also have some nice new coloured leads for the drifting. 1/0...............arent they a tad large for Plaice?? I'll be using 1's and 2's, that way, youre always in for a dab if they are about, but the 1's will still bag a larger plaice........as seen in my photo posted earlier. Rich
