duncan, ive used the pennel style on my size two mepps, but fished with gordon one evening and watched him on just a treble, and that outfished my set up, so I now have two mepps of each colour, red blade, yellow blade, and orange blade, silver and coper, to see which they prefer on the day, it appears orange fishes best all the time, interestingly, with a smal treble taking hook ups on the one inch of rag. Are the mullet here in numbers Foxy...and where have you "spun"?? Rich

Dan, no reason why you cant send bro over to sign in, then launch out of Christchurch. The Burnham comp is for best specimen, but its being run on our Bream Comp day, so two comps in one, (Ithink!) Reasonable fish to target would be Bullhuss, Cuckoo Wrasse - dead easy to bag a 100%er, or even Gars. You could crack out a good cuckoo over a bream mark even, and take both prizes. I think Mark B and I will be steaming west, in search of another 100% Bully.........or we may squeak out a few Cuckoos on a recently acquired mark, so long as you can weigh in your fish at Baiter. Whats 100% for a thin lipped???? or is a Mullet a mullet? Rich

I asked this question last year Billy, as I have been invited out on my uncles Jeanneau chasing stingers this summer, and the answer came back that it didnt have to be a club boat. BUT, I always thought that the fish had to be caught by a club member on a club registered boat.............Bob F...can you shed light please. Rich

Dave Barham is the man that TSF sent down to Weymouth to cover the 2004 YYS. That year we had particularly snotty seas, and he decided not to come out, but sat in the Sailors Return at the bar getting rat faced..........mmmmm not such a good choice????? Rich

Wedge.................remind sof the joke of the bear and the rabbit squatting behing a tree in the dark dark woods...............the bear asks the rabbit, "Hey Thumper, do you find that number two's sticks to your fur?"........... "Actually", Thumper replies, "No us Rabbits don't suffer that problem", as he gloated to the squatting bear. The bear then proceeded to grab Thumps by the ears and wipe his nether regions with him. Had to chuckle on reading the article in Total Sea Fishing on page 96 this month. I was invited out on this trip, along with Boy Billy, to snag a few Plaice for the camera. Glen Milligan, a proven international match angler, and regular in the England Team, was on board with Barney Wright, the Dep Ed of the mag. We had fish on board fairly quickly, my poor effort being the first over the gunwalls. It was photographed to death, and was only just kicking when I returned this fish to the sea. It was interesting to read that we all fished rigs reccommended by Glen. Utter arse!!!! Mine was already made up, including my coloured red drilled bullet at the trace end of the rig, to keep my two hooks hard on the bottom. One guy had never been plaice fishing before, and he was the guy who had the best day, taking a very good fish, by this seasons sizes, of just over six pounds. Glen in fact, blanked!!! He nabbed a fish off another angler to pose for a photo! To actually have been there on the day, then read the conflicting article in the mag was actually quite amusing, we'll see if the story teller is on board the impending trip with Sea Angler mag, await my report!!!! Rich..................the fat knacker on page 99!!!!!!

Guys ........ one thing that you need to realise about rat pacs.........they are high protein/low waste, so that the enemy doesnt catch you with your pants down, so to speak. So you may feel a little bunged up after eating them for a few days!!!!! Rich

Way to go Sammy!!! Show the old man the way!! Billy, what type of spinner are you using?? For thin lips, I have used a size two Mepps, tied to 8lb mono mainline, but I also bang a tiny swivel about three foot from the spinner. This seems to keep down line tangle. See you Sunday PM for a crack at these herring shoals. Rich

I expect they havent laid eggs yet, so are weighty from carrying around the unshed egg sacks. Still, all said and done, a very good fish. Rich

Harry, arrive early doors at bath road, launch boat, tie up at pontoon, drive around past the pub nd park outside the houses for free. I'm not sure what time the Harbour master gets there for collection of said launch fee, but you can save 50% of the charges by parking on the road. Good luck. Rich

I went into Garmin Europe' head office today, crikey they've expanded. I spoke to techies, and they dont produce a truly portable system, in that transducers have to be permanantly fixed on the hull. I asked about a suction cup type, which they dont provide. he said that that chandleries may have a transducer that fits onto a suction cup, but Garmin dont actually produce one. (Although he did try and sell me a few transducers for Mike just in case one got broken recoevering the dingy across a pebbly beach..........thanks but no thanks, I actually thought he might do better to pop back to his desk and invent a unit mounted on a suction cup, but all Garmin Rocket Scientists had been given the day off I also approached the marketting department regarding sponsership for our open comp this coming november, so have banged off a letter, to see what they can do. Sorry to get your hopes up re the unit Mikey..... Badger

Pike often show up as "Pug Nosed" variants, I stand to be corrected, but I'm sure that these mutations are quite common, just like kinked backs in Orffe. Rich
