  1. Where are you leaving from???? Lands End?? Rich
  2. A 13lb Bully will be hard to find in daylight methinks. All my sixteen pounders came close in at stupid O clock in the morning, whilst camped out on my rock ledge waiting for first light to target Bass and Pollack from the shore. Cuckoo still looks a good bet, with Gar coming a close second, or maybe a midnight eel...........who knows, or indeed cares when at least were going to be out there for the full 48. Tight Lines all. Rich
  3. Mike, nice to hear that you got out after so long. I spent a few fruitless hours off Ballard, for only one decent sized Bream, then another couple of fruitless hours off Dancing Ledge, for one nice bream and a few doggies, wrasse and a stray mackeral, then back across to the patch for better bream, numbers wise, but not size. Still, we cant have it always!!!! Rich
  4. A good indication of whether your bait has been snaffled by a trigger, is the lack of hook left on the trace Kam, they tend to bite off weaker hook snoods. Once hooked, they dont give up easily, although I can say this as an onlooker, not captor, having never caught one this side of the Atlantic!!!!!! Rich
  5. Mike, the unit acquires sats each time you switch it on, but shouldnt need an hour to initialise!!! When we were moving nuclear weapons on the RAF bases, ops would give us windows of about 20 mins or so, when the rusky satelites had passed the airfields, giving us a free space to move our shapes onto aircraft. With the number of GPS sats in orbit now, I'd be surprised if it took ten mins for one to pass, and another to slip into its vacant space!!! Rich
  6. Fred, if you can manage it, keeping a cross section of fish like that, try and nab some scales from a couple of the fish, over varying suzes, for the Bass project Wedger and I are taking part in. There is a post on here, giving all the gen on how when where why etc, so give it a thought please........ta chap. Rich
  7. Mikey, if its anything like my Garmin handheld, it should acquire 3d navigation, with three or more sats. Mine gets around sixteen at most, three or four at least, depending on either cloud cover, foliage from overhead trees, it acquires good signals inside cars, inside wheelhouses, ( ), so yours shouldnt be any different. If I were you mike, I'd telephone Garmin in Romsey, 01794 581994, and ask to speak to Tony in the technical dept.......he is absolutely mustard. I'm sure he will help you out. Rich
  8. How many returned Fred?? Rich

    Handheld Gps

Mike, I have a Garmin Plus 11 handheld, You are welcome to borrow it, for the duration. Give me a bell. Rich
  10. Excellent day out T, enjoyed the company and the fishing. Many Happy Returns. Rich
  11. Sam, if you forget everything else learned on the CBT, always remeber that life saver look over the right shoulder every time you make a move in the road.......stay safe m8. Rich
  12. Cracker for a first bream......nice one Rich
  13. Adam, Rocky and I are hoping to nab all three days. Rich
  14. Lardy and I will be venturing out, at some point over the weekend. I'm know I'm not the weather guru, but the barometer doesnt look set fair for a trip that far offshore Adam, so possibly plan B will come into force. Maybe one day out of Weymouth, and another out of Poole, I'm fishing with Wedger tomorrow on Tango Bravo, hopefully on a Bass trip, but we'll wait and see. I still think a fair crack at 100% is the fish stated on another thread, so I'll be hedging bets there. !00% stingers are'nt showing yet, so we won't be venturing into the Solent, especially with the huge floats of early weed drifting up and down!!!! I reckon that members are waiting to see who says where they are going first, before posting, so my necks on the block already!!!! Tight lines to all competitors anyhow........and watch out for Dan Dan, the Bullhuss man!! Badger
  15. Nice one lads, two fish in a sexh, both well over 100% speciman, The bully looks a good double m8, Ive had them up to sixteen pounds, and that one looks a good fish. Get back out there for athe 48 hr jobber chap, you'll need a fish of around 100% to bag it. Both of them are my target species for the 48 hr..........you have a reasonable chance of 100% with each, and wrasse are a heavy fish for their meagre size, so a cuckoo is always worth banging on the scales. well done lads. Rich
  16. Happy Birthday sam.........Take it steady on the Goped M8!! Rich
  17. Kam, all my hooks come from UK Hooks, and I stand by their quality. Mike comes across to me as a very honest guy, and Ive never had any problems with any merchandise bought from him, his hooks are supplied by quality maunufacturers. However, Ive never had a 50lb wolf fish hanging onto a hook!!!!!! Rich

    Rod Rings

Mike, I too had one of those rods made by my Dad, I was actually playing a 650lb Mako off Antigua on it when disaster struck. Realising that my fish was now under the boat, and that my leader was too long to actually see the fish, so whilst fannying around trying to wind in the last few turns on my almost spooled out cotton bobbin, the tip ring........which was obviously of too greater diameter for the flimsy section of last years bean pole from the bottom of the garden ,suddenly gave way, and alas, I lost the fish. I was glad however that it hadnt been IGFA tested, as I'd have looked a right narna, stood before the committe with this rod. We all know that IGFA line is of specific line class strength, and silly old me, I'd only loaded the bobbin with black cotton........what a plonker!!!!! I still talk about that one today, and we do have a chuckle at it!!!!!!!!! Rich

    Rod Rings

Terry, hold your horses on the bodge job, I spoke to WAC yesterday, they are trying to get a replacement ring for you from Fadden, also, I spoke to Billy short who also has spares, I too have one, which may be small enough, PM your address and I'll send send you my Tip ring I have here, if it fits, great, if not, send it back. You will regret bodging a tip ring, its probably the most important of all the rings on the rod!!!! Rich

    Rod Rings

Terry, send it back...unfit for purpose.....they'll have to do something with that. Try and give Rich a bell at weymouth angling, they have a great raport with YYS Rich
