  1. that would be why they have rubber bushes?
  2. towards the I19.............bit more specific please!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. They have moved on again over here Alun - the Shimano and Daiwa solids are amazing. The shop did offer to ship but that would have bought other (financial) issues......... Anyway I think Ihave enough rods..................
  4. thanks Martin et al if I don't get a chance before the next meeting can you let Dave have it please Ta
  5. A wise man once said " first catch your turbot" or something remarkably similar!
  6. yippeeeeeeeee...........!
  7. no pre sets - adjustments in exposure, offset, shadows, highlights, levels, crop & rotation (to get the horizon back on a level plane), edge sharpen and 2 layers of usm, resize (bicubic) then reduced the JPEG quality to reduce the size. as you will see between the time you emailed to my post - under 10 mins including th eupload/post. just a bit of fun but your original was a nice clean shot to work on. I'm learning this stuff as I play with some new toys..............only taken it near the water once so far; here's one I like
  8. hope you appreciate teh size I kept the image Paul? Good quality original - Olympus make great optics.
  9. n1 jack what sort of size were the fishes? good catch whatever
  10. Adam - any particular reason you left this bit out of your chosen quote?
  11. Cheers Rich
  12. Don't understand what you are questioning? No one has suggested that you shouldn't log appropriate passages with Portland (which covers Poole).
  13. Thanks guys - Rich I am actually staying at the top end of Sand Key - right by by the park and close to Clearwater. This gives me the option to wade/fish the gap as well as inside or out all within walking distance of the hotel! I'm guessing we will be touring around a fair bit and it's more likely to be camera than flyrod during the day - unless I take a boat/guide out one day. Crystal river etc isn't far north either I believe. Will look in for last minute advice! I have followed the links in the adverts but nothing fits........with Clearwater marina 1mile away I can wander up there and look around easily enough.
  14. Have a week away at the end of Feb and will have the 9# fly rod in the bag as ever - any recomendations as to where I might find some sport, and what it might be? Also possible I might get permission for a day charter - worth it at this time of year and again 'recomendations'. Ta

    Huge Chub

  16. I know it sounds obvious but - surely they will let you try a 15 on the basis that you will buy it if the revs work out OK and buy a 16 if they don't? rot is 1" - 200 rpm all other things being equal personally I switched from alloy to stainless after the 2nd incident - in my case this was a nylon bale strap that destroyed all 3 blades completely! I never had a problem after that with SS for the next 2 boats and 500hrs run - sand and shingle simply polish them! again there have been many shools of thought re comparable pitches etc - most driven by differences in the design of the props I believe. I swapped out like for like in the Quicksilver range and they seemed similar in revs but with the SS delivering a smoother running feel and about 5% more speed at the same revs. Back to your case - the 15 will deliver a hell of a hole shot, you tend to travel fairly loaded so on balance I would believe you aren't going to change the gearing to the detriment of either economy or engine loading and that the 15 will be fine. I still think they will let you try out (but maybe not if you use it from Christchurch!) Right now Poole Harbour is a great opportunity to test this sort of thing.
  17. indeed Rich, just as the calling channel now has responsibility for selecting the working channel...............
  18. sorry but I am going to have to disagree Rich long gone are the days when they expect or require this and it is just additional work UNLESS they have specifically requested you to - which can happen in certain circumstances. the info is used if 1. a boat physically or phonetically (ie a radio alert) like yours is reported in dificulties 2. your wife (or whomever!) reports you overdue 3. they (the coastguard) are looking for assistance in the area at the time your indicated you would be there. finally it will also be a fast corroberation of a DSC alert. cross referencing the above to yor trip will often give you the obvious answer to whether you should call in your trip or not - the obvious one is inshore to the West in poor conditions; possible call to CG from JP re small boat in obvious difficulties etc when you are busy drifting a race for bass! edit - the disagreement of course disappears if you change your plan ie come in early, head somewhere else etc all of which constitute a new plan! In Fred's case it is important to give the CG the exact coordinates of all the marks you intend to fish........please!

    Ugly Sticks

thanks Rich - look forward to it. I think there are a few other fly rod manufacturers who offer replacements as a matter of course but in the case of Ugly stiks it's 'cos they aren't supposed to break! I have the early 1481 - 015 8'6" which is absolutely the dogs for pollack - but dammed heavy to fish with all day!

    Ugly Sticks

who should I contact about a president reel spare then Rich? I tried their web site but got no response ever - twice Anti reverse peg on the inside of the sideplate just snapped off one day (with a fish pulling on the other.........maybe the drag was a bit tight......) so it's new side plate time (5 years later)

    Vat

yes - providing it was french registered to an individual the paper work should be about a solid as you can get around boats!

    Vat

basic premise is that if it's VAT paid in the other country (at whatever rate) then it's good to go in the EU................ however........evidence of VAT paid differs across the EU so detailsin that area will be country specific. UK is actually the daftest as you can't prove VAT paid status because even if it's invoiced it could have been reclaimed! France is good as their vessel registration scheme (compulosry) will include TVA payment.
