  1. where?
  2. hope this is a little less stressed guys - double checking the other I could see a hue flaw............more haste less speed Paul - can you switch the homepage link please
  3. cheers Charlie but with a great fish and a good starting pic (casio camera?) it's a matter of fairly simple stages. Difficult bit is the colour saturation - this would print well (from the full size version) but is possibly a touch oversaturated for web viewing. However I wanted to show how colourful rays can be!
  4. great report - sounds like a good time
  5. what pole?
  6. nice report C - great when you catch a fish like that ray "what is it?" I never get fed up hauling rays aboard (well there is the odd big tide/ unexpected small ray situation......) 'cos they are so pretty and individual. Good call re Brownsea - weekend's it's a finish by 0830 job or suffer the boat wakes etc; not a hospitable spot to combine family and fishing (evans rock is the only one I know that is locally, although drifing the little eddy under Durlston/Anvil is good too).
  7. Alun you are the last person I would have thought would spend a whole day focusing on light tackle shallow water congering - should have been great fun on 6lb gear well done to the team that made the trip - long day but I guess you trailers are used to that and it's good practice for the warmer summer days and that race for the launching ramps! there are still times I miss the adventure of new waters that trailering can provide
  8. lovely fish Paul - good picture too with the Cannon. couldn't resist the coulours of the bream...............
  9. simple answer is yes easy anchoring in deeper water means you will reposition as required rather than sitting out a tide- and you will be rewarded long term
  10. the only double braid I know is a sheathed construction and not what I would use for anchoring! stick to multiplait (octoplait) and if I was buying a full 200m drum of 12mm I would expect the postage to be covered at
  11. damm right Kam - and I think they caught that turbot the Sunday we were fishing there (and blanked) as well!

    Fast Fisher

Paul has this picture now been posted more often than our other great favorite?
  13. link might just suit someone who wants to get in touch with the guy - I don't think they have the pricing right at all yet - more like 8700 in my book but they will get there.
  14. just uploaded a test fine m8
  15. Paul If you are in the mood can I put in a plea re the weather links....... weather is really important to us and I find the navigation to weather links clunky at best and a right pain at worst..........probably just me but if others (you) agree any chance of a dedicated weather area with quicklinks to the most commonly used ones. realise it's a balance between choice and usability...........
  16. nice enhancement Paul - well done
  17. you wouldn't have wanted to see the original Coddy! don't know where the blood came from as the fish was hooked across the jaw and the hook, small barbed, came out easily. wasn't mine either!
  18. Jack - when I've been in those I haev never felt the opportunity to photo them - like MikeF I am hanging on to the tiller! Afish....you have answered your own point - what happens when the stern sinks so low in the hole......... it's been the documented cause of lose to a number of craft over the years; tugs being the most suseptable class of craft!
  19. you could however - buy a flat pack octahedronal radar reflector thingy paint the whole thing light blue then paint each panel with a black circle now when you put together you can use it as a black ball for anchoring and a radar reflector in one the bad news is that moving around in reduced visibility vessels with radar will see you as moving, vessels spotting you in the mist/fog will think you are at anchor!
  20. hmmmm - so a 9.8hp on my tender (3m) is a little excessive eh Jack? to me displacement is displacement - anything else is technically planning although some hull forms are not designed to give the necessary lift to plane cleanly and are clasified as semi displacement (semi planning!) - on the other hand they don't have large resistance humps either so work well at medium speeds. shorter the waterline length of a boat (or object) and the lower the speed it must be planning or it sinks as a result of it's sternwave. simple fysics. 520 will, based on a mwaterline length of 4.8m, have to be planing at 5.57 knots or sink - well the recently modified figs actually suggest that it could survive up to 6.13 knots but ........... Phaeton can get to about 8.5 knots before it hits R1 and needs a huge injection of power to go faster (and over the hump).. Fortunately the turbo comes in at 8.2 knots.....and delivers that power! I am fully planning at 10 knots but don't get the full hydrodynamic effect from the hull untill 14knots normally laden - at which point I am properly (fully) trimed out at the drive as well.
  21. you are not supposed to use such accurate descriptions in a tackle review m8............. ...........even if it is only the introduction
  22. there's a thread in the club members area but no conclusive dates! if it wasn't guaranteed to be my last ever fishing trip (or any other) I would be heading over this weekend looking at the forecast............... I may just run over to Cherbourgh for dinner Sat night instead if I make it I reckon it will be later in May and midweek - chances of a weather window matching work commitments plus fishing partner just doesn't seem to likely right now though..........and then of course there's the 48hr weekend
  23. indeed - huge fun on light gear - possibly even fly v early and late in the day when they come up in the water!
