Hi Adam , sorry to hear about what has happened. I'm probably like many others in thinking that putting a deposit down means that it's yours. At present i am looking at 2 boats and trying to work out which one is the better deal.....After enquiring about one of the boats yesterday, I had a call from the salesman today to tell me that a chap from Devon had just turned up out of the blue and was crawling all over the boat i was interested in. He blatantly asked for my card details to secure a deposit from me, and this would stop him selling to the other guy. He said that as i was the first enquirer i was getting the first option. I said no way not until i had atleast seen the boat and worked out a deal and told him to get on and sell it if he gets a good offer, and i told him that the earliest i can get to see it was monday. Does anybody know about how brokerages get away with stating that a boat that is built in '04 is advertised as an '05.? Is thera a chassis plate of some description? Anyhow i agree that talk is cheap but luckily as you get older you do get wiser . I'd be very interested in a copy of the option to purchase if available. PM me Cheers jas

Hi Toerag, I have decided to look for an inboard diesel boat rather than an a stern drive boat. Thanks mate. Mike i was actually in Strensall barracks nr York. This is a medical centre set up to train all medical staff in the TA before they go to Iraq/ Afghanistan (poor bu@@ers) There were three of us amputees on scene and all had to go and get made up by a special make up artist. As usual by the time she finished with me you really think that i had my leg blown off. It truly is blood and guts. My senario was that of a man running from Afghan looters and apon entering a house to hide i accidently triggered a mine and had my leg blown off, damaged hearing and shrapnel to arm and chest. My brief was that apon entering the hospital from the back of a landrover with sirens blarring and on stretcher was to act obviously in pain but i had been administered some morphin to quieten me down. I entered A&E where i had my clothes cut from me and then was worked on by the medical team for approx 45mins, all this time i was acting incoherent, in shock, anxious, deaf and in pain. After this i was stretchered into theatre where i stayed for about an hour watching a surgeons team working on a manikin ( OF ME ) From there i went staight onto the ward where i stayed overnight Lots of lovely ladies in camo gear bringing me many a cup of tea whilst layed up in bed. Great fun and good pay. Chees Jas

Well isn't that typical..... Can't make it.. I will be up at Strensall army camp in York getting my army outfit cut from me and then fresh bandages put on by some fit army girlies ( well thats what i've been told ) all in the name of training personell before the poor b##gers end up in Afghanistan. There are some perks with being an amputee... Jas

Well Tom can't thankyou enough for your words of wisdom. Hope a pint at next club meeting will do? Cheers Jas

I know mate. I think that what happened to you made me think again and try to keep low key as poss. Were you going to get a survey done? if so how much were you quoted? Cheers Jas
-
Hi Tom, Thanks for the advice. Cheers Jas Martin can't say to much yet because the deal might not happen .
-
Hi Mike, i am taking your answer as a bloody essential then. Cheers Jas
-
Hi all. What are your thoughts about having a boat survey on 1yr old boat ? Worthwhile or waste of money? Cheers Jas
-
Hi Adam , well i must be misinformed in that case. But i can't see that it would cost that much to change some oil and filters. Any recommendations of anyone i can call to get an estimate from? Cheers Jas
-

Hi Billy, i've been meaning to call you after getting your no. from Rich , but as usual haven't as yet had the time. I was wondering if you and i could meet up somewhen, as i hope to be buying a boat in the fairly near future and i already have my name down for a pontoon mooring at Weymouth . Rich said you were a man in the know down at Weymouth and recommended that i call you because you were a helpful chap. Hope you can help in any shape or form. Cheers Jas

Hi Coddy, i must say that sounds like a great idea. I have looked at the stone fisher site quickly and did notice that i could have about 5 hours of instruction etc for a measly

Hi , i don't think the electric windlass is a standard fitment as Essex boatyards list it as an option. Hi Coddy just browsed the write up on the 250. How different is it in comparison to the 230 of stone fishers because i would like to be able to sit down and see where i am going whilst underway mainly because of only having the one leg. Cheers Jas
-
Cheers for advice but i have decided on a boat with an inboard diesel engine due to the lower maintenance costs. Cheers mate Jas
-
As usual on the scrounge again. he he. Nice 2 see you on the forum at last, must mean you have paid your dues. Roll on sunday . Jas
-
Thanks for that Adam. Arvor should re label live bait well to beer cooler then. As for the windlass the reason i asked is because on the Essex boatyard site it says electric windlass to AS models only. Cheers mate Jas
-
Pity it's not a 230as . Having a look at one at Plymouth on Sunday hopefully. Any comments about a 230 would be appreciated. I have read that the seats are not high enough to see out of the windscreen while underway and the baitwell only works while underway. And what are the reasons for having an offset pilot house? And the electric windlass can only be fitted to an AS model and not just a 230. What are the differences between the two. Cheers Jas

Cheers Al.....I'll give him a call soon mate. jas
