  1. I'D HAVE A GO.......If someone would take me. Jas
  2. Just looking through yahoo news and found a story about congor cuddling down at Lyme regis. Net closes on conger cuddling Saturday July 29, 12:47 PM LONDON (Reuters) - An fishing town has banned the sport of conger cuddling after an animal activist complained. The tradition, once described as the most fun a person could have with a dead fish, involves one team trying to hit another with a conger eel tied to a rope. It was popular in Lyme Regis and used as a fund-raising event for the local lifeboat. But the sport has now been banned after an animal rights activist complained that it was "disrespectful" to dead fish and threatened to campaign against the event. "The RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) were worried that it might show them up in a bad light," Rob Michael, chairman of the town's lifeboat guild, told Reuters on Saturday. "In this day and age, and with health and safety, you have to be that little bit more careful. But some people are extremely upset." Under the rules of conger cuddling, contestants stand on small wooden blocks as if they were skittles. Members of a second team then swing a dead conger eel attached to a piece of rope at the group in a bid to knock them off. The team with the last person standing wins. Conger eels can grow to more than three metres. I've cuddled some trouts in my time , but i'd still recognise a conger after 10 pints.

  10. Hi Mike, unfortunately it was over before it started. Bobs car broke down and of course he needed to get it fixed before his holiday. But i got out on sunday around studland area with a couple of mates and we caught a few bass and pollock while out. Gotta get out more and learn where all the fishing marks are before i buy a boat myself, so i have alot to learn... but keen to do so. Will have to put another posting on boat buddies and hope you all take me out as often as i can afford. Jason

  14. Thanks chaps, As for the shark fishing, i think that i'd feel like i,d been thrown in at the deep end and probably have to take a change of underwear if i caught one. I,m just starting to buy new boat gear as most of my gear is quite ancient but usable, and i've got no clue how to handle a boat properly........ so i wouldn't be much help to you Tom. 18. Hi All, I thought that it was about time that i added my name to the crewing list instead of reading all of your great stories and doing nothing about it. As some of you know already , i have only one leg ( i wish i was a lobster ,as i hear it would have grown back by now) and i am on crutches , so unable to carry my own gear (very limited) or do any wading etc. I have very limited knowledge but have been on a few charter boats. I am hoping to start off slowly and learn all the tricks and have loadsa laffs. and catch loadsa fish of course . Very happy to share all costs. Jason
