    Oh Skegness!

Great job !! I cannot help but think though these marine engine manufacturers could all do a better job with their construction and material choice especially for the skeg area.. they are quite delicate and considering they are the first area to take a thump .. maybe they are designed especially for the after sales spares business and not for the customer
  2. Great !! I will obtain 2 of them as the freshwater one isn’t too great only a cheap thing ..
  3. What type do you use on boat ? I have a fresh water electric ones but I think they would fail in salt water
  4. Hi Graham, go to 12 volt planet website who sell everything to do with 12v electrics and also specialise in marine. I’ve just ordered a marine 12v cigarette lighter for the new lamp I’m getting and needed cable, they have a cable size calculator on their site and also help information, you’ll be able to input load, length, voltage then you’ll select cable sqmm and you’ll see a cell going red into green as you select different cable sizes.. you’ll also need the tinned cable for marine but that won’t effect the size
  5. Im getting my milk bottle weight holders sorted out .. I’ll see how they fit under one of the seats tomorrow, I think this is what some suggested with milk bottles ?
  6. I’ve tried to use the side scan and don’t understand it .. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong
  7. Hi Graham, I’ve only ever used Garmin over the years so have no comparison with other makes but as far as Garmin go I’m really happy and always have been.. but they do come at a cost, I’ve got the Echomap 95SV from Marine Superstore which was with the Navionics + which doesn’t have the shading and I’ve just upgraded the subscription to Navionics Vision + which does have the shading plus it’s then available on the phone app called Active Captain which facilitates data transfer and updates.. I believe though a good cost effective combination is to use dual screens, one purely for fish and depth etc and a waterproof tablet that has GPS for the navionics for shading ..you could then select a cost effective fish finder model only and also purchase a suitable GPS tablet to sort out navionics at a decent screen size for boating use ?
  8. During my last visit I’ve had complete success with the Alderney set up on the retrieval proves .. however I keep on snapping the breakaway tie wraps off .. I’m not sure if this is due to anchor releases on the sea floor or going through the ring and snapping them or just cheap things from Amazon… not sure how you’d select good quality tie wraps? Im contemplating forgetting the tie wraps completely as been reading up that if you go backwards over a trapped anchor it will invariably free itself anyway and it can be dangerous having an anchor that can release due to tie wraps breaking???
  9. Hi all I’ve been looking onto this technique myself and had a go last trip which seemed to work, I’ve also learned the “alpine knot” for creating a quick and easy to undo knot along the anchor line when it initially goes slack to attach to the carabiner on the rope that goes to the bow. I’m experimenting with carabiner directly onto the buoy which is a size A2 which also attaches the ring and the 4 x2 with a hole in it
  10. I was actually looking earlier today they have a decent self adhesive range in Amazon, I’m thinking of sticking one in, ideally one to remind me of take out dimensions
  11. I assume 6 miles has some bearing on it 😁
  12. Where is the 6 mile banks ? Is it marked on navionics or the name of a general area ?
  13. That looks great 👍
  14. I’m down for a week with my son from 18th to 27th July I think I’ll pop and visit the marina to see what options they have, I did have an arrangement last year for out of season weekend trips but I never did any due to weather and other conflicting events.. I definitely don’t want mooring though, no anti fouls for me 😁
  15. Hi all, I’ve joined Sea Start today so feel a bit less vulnerable out there
