  1. This club use to dominate the angling press. I have uncovered an old copy of Boat Fishing Monthly where we had two full length articles. This one was all about the open comp we use to host. If this turns out to be readable I'll maybe post the other article later
  2. Oooh do tell what you got? Must say I loved your dads last boat
  3. Hi Dan, back for good?
  4. Mark, our club is run almost totally on honesty. ie: if you say you caught a fish you did catch a fish. If you are unsure of a fishes id then do post a photo and the members will help you out on the id of your catch. Photos would be nice in reports just to spice things up a bit. There are no large prizes to win so anyone who (shall we say) exaggerates their catches is only fooling themselves. The only comps we run that require a weigh in is (I believe) our Christmas flounder comp and that is a purely social event which again only offers a small hamper plus other bits and bobs as prizes. When we used to run an annual open comp which was a little different as there were high value prizes which may have been tempting for some. Also non club members could enter so in this comp we were shall we say a little more careful on fairness
  5. Hey Jacob, happy birthday, get Granddad to take you fishing
  6. Wishing you a very happy birthday Derek
  7. Welcome Mark, so you finally took the plunge and joined proper. Enjoy your membership and take part in as many comps or socials as you feel able. Martin
  8. Wishing you a very happy birthday Adam, nice day for being out on the boat?
  9. Wishing you a very happy birthday Tony, now get back under that boat and get it painted lol. I'll buy you a beer (or three) when we are aloud out again
  10. Saturday 27/03/21 Dean and I were up early doors . Got to the boat at around 8:45am and were the only boat going out through the 9:30 bridge lift. Pulled into Poole Quay opposite one of the Squeeker factories to collect our bait. Armed with worms and raw prawns off we set. Went past a visiting super yacht called Elandess, Dean took a photo of our boat passing her Headed outside the harbour and had a few drifts along the beaches with 1 plaice being the reward for our effort there. Twas windy and cold so bacon and sausage sandwiches were made and consumed, this turned out to be the highlight of the day Moved to fish the swash hoping for less wind and more action but weed was a problem here so yet another move to inside the harbour. Our chosen mark was almost unfishable with so much weed being dragged out the harbour by the super strong ebb. We decided to call it a day and head back to our berth through the 14:30 bridge lift, wash the boat down and home by 15:30 On our way out the guys that did gel repairs and polishing of Madness phoned saying they were at work on one of the Sunseeker boats and offered to take a few shots of Madness on the water which was really nice of them as it is really difficult getting shots of your own boat on the water. All in all an enjoyable 5 hours on the water after nearly 4 months of inactivity due to weather and boat out for annual repairs etc. Looking forward to our next foray hopefully with a few more fish thrown in

  16. There are coordinates and what to generally expect in those areas in this link Members marks
  17. Happy Birthday Ben.
  18. Madness is back where she belongs, on the water. Titivating this weekend then its off fishing so look out for poor weather to come
  19. Alun do you get your own prawns? if so are they difficult to find. As a kid we used to get them off of New Quay in Poole but can't access that area any more. I guess most areas with cleanish water would hold some
  20. Yes re the lugworm only trouble is you would probably have to dig them yourself as I don't believe many shops stock them and that's not something I enjoy doing lol. Interesting re the cooked prawns
  21. Feb is usually quite inshore although some guys have had a few fish. During March inshore plaice fishing should be improving with the best baits being ragworm on its own or ragworm with a slither of squid or uncooked prawns, I get mine from lidl's , some say even cooked prawns work but I have never seen a plaice with a frying pan so will stick with uncooked Bream won't be long about probably mid to end of April/May. Baits for these feisty fish is squid squid or squid, worm also works in fact most fish baits can have there day. As you're so new to this hobby you really need to have a local chart and have someone mark the areas on it for you with an indication of what to catch in particular areas. I would happily do that when the current lock down and social distancing is relaxed. Have you looked at the members marks section, there is some general areas in there to get you started Members marks
  22. Chris is based at Cobbs as am I. The shambles is about 40 miles from Cobbs so would probably be to far for your boat unless you took a load of spare fuel. You have to bare in mind that fishing the Shambles is drifting so you are constantly up and down the bank so a lot more mileage than just there and back. Chris has a diesel powered 25' boat so has the range needed. Your best bet to fish the Shambles would be to cadge a ride on one of the bigger boats and share fuel costs with the skipper. We will be going hopefully in the next month, if we have space I will post in the trip planning heading of the forum
  23. Nice, mines going in tomorrow, can't (but got to) wait lol
  24. Wishing you a very happy birthday Matt
  25. Happy birthday Dan, hope you are well and enjoying your day
