  1. Hi Kim Good luck with the sale of overdraft, she will make a good buy for someone. Where are you going, be sorry to see you go. Will it be near the sea? if so perhaps we can have some foreign reports Martin
  2. Tony at Select Marine has some offers at the moment not sure how good they are take a look below
  3. Nice one Charlie I'm well pleased for you One thing though, how come you've got time to post on here Don't let the grass grow under your new toy Martin
  4. Kam I am only having a giggle too. In between the many hectic things I have to be getting on with during my day (usually making coffee for Martin or similar) I do browse the forum and VERY occassionally put in my two penneth worth. Most people on here know me well enough to realise that I generally like to keep my opinions to myself and prefer not to stir up debate. Tom ???? me drink coffee???? You stir it up????? as if Martin
  5. Mike I have just got the draw bar weight from my van manufacturers hand book and it states max 100kg As I said in my earlier post refer to your vehicles recommendations as all will be different. Do not have the nose weight to light as this can induce snaking which isnt very pleasant and decidedly dangerous. Have a look at National Trailer & Towing Association Ltd website which is quite useful Martin
  6. Charlie There are around 150 members in the club and I guess you will get 150 different answers to your questions. A good start and sound advice from both Adam and Steve. My advice is buy the best you can comfortably afford, not only will your gear pay you back by being pleasing to use, good quality stuff will stand the test of time and in the long run work out as cheap to own as lesser gear. All the main names ABU Diawa, Penn have good equipment but at the end of the day it
  7. trailer nose weight will differ from car to car but will be from 75kg to around 100kg Look at your vehicles book for the correct weight
  8. Adam Did you take any photos for Jacks competition
  9. Jack If you followed all the steps in Pauls post there should have been an option to send to pbsbac which is what you should have clicked on. If it wasnt there you havent followed the instruction correctly. Try again but dont send to msn, if this is your only option cancel and follow Pauls instructions to the letter. Or probably better to have Paul talk you through it Martin
  10. Paul I think you will find that to counteract the steering you should adjust the trim tab annode in the opposite direction, so as your engine is trying to throw you to the right adjust your tab to the left or looking down on it clockwise. The tab acts like a rudder, take it steady try a little at a time as a small adjustment has a large effect at speed. Martin
  11. Paul Happy birthday mate....hope you had a goodun Martin
  12. Hi Andy Nice first report even though you were fishless Gary's the flounder master so you would do well to learn from him. The learning curve is quite steep but given time you will I'm sure become profficient in all areas including catching fish If you would like to speed up the learning process join in the training day, register for courses and keep an eye on the boat buddy heading on this forum, its amazing what you could learn in one trip afloat with an experienced boater/angler. By the way I have updated your status in the forum to that of club member Martin
  13. Yes please Adam if you have room, will obviously share cost of fuel etc Martin
  14. Well done gordon, Lovely looking fish Martin
  15. Adam Firstly pleased that all ended well, shame about the little Orkney though. I bet the skipper of that boat doesn
  16. Fred For an example of how RSA's attitudes are changing take a look at the Bass management plan proposed by anglers. In there you will find not only measures to curb the commercial element but also bag limits for rod and line anglers with sensible limits set for commercial rod and line fishermen. I can think of very few anglers that kill and keep all they catch and none that sell their catch. In fact a large majority of our club members return most of what they catch. I'm sure there maybe a few rsa's around that sell fish but if I knew of them I'm afraid they would be shopped. I think most anglers are coming around to the opinion that we have to make a stand and save what we have left to secure the future for our children, any that don
  17. http://new.petitiononline.com/COD/petition.html With diminishing returns something has to be done and this is a start. Have a look and sign if you are able Read what other anglers and commercials are saying onAnglers Net Thanks Martin
  18. By the way did you see my cake
  19. Paul Good report and glad to hear you are pleased with your new toy What is the top rpm given by the manufacturers 5500-5600? How would you compare the fuel economy to that of the Honda? Have fun tomorrow Martin
  20. The club waters policy was set when the club was first formed and has not changed since. Skippers that want to go a long way offshore will go whatever the club boundaries are. Some members have been venturing over to Alderney for years. I believe there would be no benefit in changing boundaries now as it would serve no purpose. I would like to reiterate that the club does not encourage boat owners to undertake more than they feel capable of. Each and every trip should be well researched in terms of weather, boats capability (sea worthiness and fuel capacity etc.) and the competency of the skipper and crew. Safety gear should be checked to ensure it all functions and is all in date. In other words you should do your own risk assessment before each and every trip. For those that don't know what club waters are: StCatherines to the east to The Bill of Portland in the west and as far south of those two points as you care to go, wow that
  21. Hi Tom Happy Birthday. Hope you have a great day Martin
