  1. Happy Birthday Paul and have a nice fishy day Martin
  2. I've never used "my assistant" before but I suppose its quite useful. After the initial play though I would probably only ever use the new post button and search and there both available without the assistant. So will probably revert to using those specific buttons again Martin
  3. Jack All seems to be working for me, is there anything in particular not working or is it the whole My Asistant? Martin
  4. LOL
  5. Geoof And we look forward to hearing some of yours, please keep in touch and post your catch/trip reports on the forum Martin
  6. Kam You wouldnt want to see me in a bikini believe me its not a pretty sight Martin
  7. Geoff She looks sweet, I hope you have many hours of fun aboard her Martin
  8. Kam Unfortunately Alun was not a member when he caught that stonkin Bass Martin
  9. A cracking days sport for those anglers and well done to the skipper for putting them on them. 4 fish each kept for their own consumption probably not excessive so long as it doesn't happen on a regular basis. I would though question the wisdom of putting a photo of 20 odd dead fish on view for all to see. The last thing us anglers need is to give the antis ammunition to use against us. Far better to see a piccy of a delighted angler with one decent size fish. On a personal note Dean and I would have put them all back except for 1 fish each. Each angler has the right to do as he wishes with the fish he has caught, however those anglers that take more than their fair share will have to live with that when there are no fish left to catch!
  10. Well done Adam...I'm not jealous at all When are you going to get a proper job where you have to work for a living Seriously though rods hours in = fish out, well deserved M8Y Martin
  11. Kam I havent been yet but hope to go up later this week. The Soton Boat show is a better show for us small boaters than London and yes there is always plenty of parking with a park and ride service in operation Might see you up there Martin
  12. We ventured out earlyish on Maverick today. Launched at Wick and ploded out of the harbour then over to the island for a look see. Paul D and Les L were already out but both were struggling for mackerel. With that in mind I decided to go towards St Catherines end of the island. Still struggled to get mackerel, just the odd one or two appearing. Tried drifting for bass without luck so decided to anchor a bank for Rays. Well no rays in either but we did manage a couple of pack tope. I then had a bite and thought it was another pack tope, it was off like a train but as it neared the boat we could se it was a Bass and when weighed went 4lb 3oz. Dean was in next and brought a beautiful 6lb 51/2 oz Bass that was promptly put back to fight another day. It was all down hill after that. Had fun and games getting back into Christchurch harbour and then retreiving at wick at near low water but that's another story Martin
  13. Hi Paul and welcome to your clubs forum. Being a website man any tips you can give us to improve the site would be greatly recieved as we are always looking for input. I'm just off to upgrade your status in the forum to that of Club Member Cheers Martin
  14. I dont know about that James but I think you had better start making traces and a game plan Martin
  15. Welcome aboard Chris We all look forward to your contributions Martin
  16. Happy Birthday James and have a brilliant day Martin
  17. It won't count Martin
  18. We had three plaice in 2 drifts from the number 10 bouy in the swash channel drifting towards the training bank on an ebb tide, approximately 2/3rds across our drift and about 100 yards seaward of the buoy is where the fish came Martin
  19. Duncan Ah I see your point, the fish was already off the bottom and kiting off in the tide Martin
  20. Duncan If we had buoyed the anchor we would have been drifting at the sameish speed as the tide it would therefore have been fighting the fish more directly with less influence of the tide. If we had let out another 50m of anchor line it would have taken no time at all for the tide to have run away with the fish, we would then have been back to square one Never mind he (the fish) or she is still our there waiting to be caught. Would whoever catches it please return the trace to Alun Martin
  21. Alun Agree that buoying of the anchor would have been useful and depending on how far down the fish had taken the hook would probably got the ray up . Also noted that your line parted at the swivel but I still think that 17lb trace line is not up to fishing for large rays. Assuming knots were secure heavier trace line wouldnt have parted at the swivel or anywhere else. Main line of 20lb unless it is damaged is niegh on impossible to break with a rod, but will part when pulled for a break but not when using the rod normally.
  22. As Alun said after a prompt start from him with a lovely Blonde ray first drop things went decidedly down hill. A shame about the second Ray that hung in the tide but 17lb trace line just isn't up to handling those grinding pads on big Rays in those tides. It was definately Aluns day as all I could manage was dogs, mackerel and a lonely plaice after our competition time was up Never mind it was good to be out on the water with good company. Martin

    War165

Welcome to PBSBAC forum, looking forward to your contributions Is that a little play on words, your forum name being war165 and your email address containing endeavourboats? Martin
  24. For the plaice try around milkmaid bank or drifting along the training bank just out from the rocks, Studland or the channel side according to tides and wind. Studland used to be a good bet for plaice but not so good in recent years Good luck and let us know how you get on Martin
  25. Done deal, alun will crew on maverick Martin
