  4. oh dear oh dear!!! just been at the boat show 2day, and the numbers of people compared to last year,, and even the exceptionally low 1st year at xcel,,, are XTREMELY low!!! there were no queus for any attractions, and the so calld 'family attractions', such as the oil change races were completely empty!! This is reall shocking,,, considering thatthis is the first weekend of the show,, a prime family time!! And also there seems to be a lot less small companies (like orkney who dont have their own stand,, but are displayed with honda). It seems that stand prices have left only the big companies (though strangely a handcream company is still there!) Oh dear!! Dan

    20-25k Boat

hmm Contessa 32,,, great boat,, but the presence of miles of rigging, a rather tall pointy thing pple call a mast, and plenty of snag places for hooks,,,, amasing seagoing sailing vessel, and looks beautiful,, but not the ideal fishing boat! nice try tho! he he has anyone got a pic of the aquafisher 23, as i cant seem to find this on the web!! Thanks Dan
  6. hey i think the millionaire jibe is a bit unfair... im 100% sure tom'll b there,,, and i dont see a jeaneau merry fisher selling for millions!! i agree slightly that it is un-angler-friendly,, but remember it is a BOAT show to primarily display and sell BOATS and BOAT EQUIPMENT!! Though it was always cool to see that gigantic tuna lure, and hook the size of my head at the old tackle stand imagine getting caught by that beast! Dan
  7. ok ok your right,,, i just got a bit over excited that itll take you all aaaagggess to get there!! lol have fun! Dan

  11. Salt Peter is the same as potassium nitrate (KNO3) , and is avaliable off the web as its a real meat preserver!! you can even get it off ebay!! hehe! lol now iv just got 2 find a way to use it 2 improve my fishing!! lmao dan
  12. lol i just wonder how this has arisen on a fishing forum!! according to my 3000 page 'cookbook'. the exact recepie is: Here is the recipe for one helluva smoke bomb! 4 parts sugar 6 parts potassium nitrate (Salt Peter) Heat this mixture over a LOW flame until it melts, stirring well. Pour it into a future container and, before it solidifies, imbed a few matches into the mixture to use as fuses. One pound of this stuff will fill up a whole block with thick, white smoke! 13. looks nice!! does the fabric bimini/ sprayhood shake at all? i was always put off by the thought of that, though never hav had the chance to see for myself!! Back deck looks great for landing that 100lb killer cod!!! he he
  14. lol the smoke thingy isnt explosiv in itself,, but the chemicals,, as with all can giv u a nasty surprise!! it just makes a thick smoke, similar looking to that comming off a flare however it isnt harmful, and is pretty much odourless! it isnt the smoke which will come from a fire,, just different!!" loooool
  15. ahh the pleasures of being a teen! he he if anyone does want to do this,, jus for fun.,, pm me for the exact recepie,,, as this is a low xplosiv compound!! i also hav many more 'knowledgable ideas' haha dan
  16. with all seriousness,, you can preserve it properly with potassium nitrate !! also with the left overs you can mix it with sugar in a 6:4 ratio, in a low heated fryingpan,, to make great smokebombs!!! lol dnt ask how i know that,,, but mmm,,, ham! dan
  17. Unlucky that ur getting seasick ,,, it can really ruin a good day fishin! Personally i have found that the best prevention for seasickness is a nice hearty GREASY breakfast beforehand! Something like a good old bacon n egg sarnie! With all seriousness, it lines the stomach with grease, so you dont feel that horrible sloshing feeling in the stomach, and thus you dont get sick! This has worked for me and mates many-a-time! and it tastes great! Hope this helps (n if it dnt u still get a nice brekfast! ) Dan
  18. i knew that!...... thanks for that Martin! there seems to be some good buys! .........but not quite yet Dan
  19. ok thanks for that! hope to see you at the boatshow then! One final thing!: are there any websites which i can see 2nd hand Merry Fishers, jus to get an idea of the price gaps + different types of extra equipment around?] some sort of 'merryfisher2ndhandsales.com?! lool thanks guys! Dan
  20. WOW! thanks for that! gd memory about the boatshow! I won't be able to get down to Salterns, as were not yet living in Poole, still in Enfield until June next year , but we will definately be down at tha house every couple of weeks! I will be at the london boat show, so hope to see you then! p.s. is there any 2nd hand Merry Fisher 625's around? as ive had trouble finding these on the web! Thanks Everyone! Dan
  21. thanks for that help Tom! By any chance do you know Andrew Dowland? 'cos i think that we met (well me and my dad Bob) at the last Southampton boatshow! i would have your card where you recommended me to this forum... but ive lost it . one (or two) final points of help, as a 'seaworthy' boat, is there any difference in handling + stability, or other general control differences between the 625 and 655? Thanks for all the help Guys! Dan
  22. So the 655 will top 20knts DOWNHILL eh ?! As far as speed goes, i do not see why the 655 is comparitavely soo much slower, considering it is only a tiny bit bigger, and has 5hp less! Also, internal wise, what is the difference between the 655 and 625? is there more of anything, or is everything just bigger? I cant seem to find any adequate photos on the web! Also Tom, how easy is it to fit the wakeboard tower? (aftermarket i presume!) and have you got any photos of this? Thanks for the Help Guys! Keep it comming! Dan
  23. Hi, Im currently trying to decide what to buy for my new boat, and have become stuck for choice! so i decide to ask you! Im looking between a Merry Fisher 655, Avon 6m (ish)RIB, or something else! I will be using it for general fun around Poole Harbor, wakeboarding, supporting a dinghy, and of course fishing!!! Ive definately been attracted to the benifits of a Cabin on the Merry Fisher, able to make some tea, however I do not really know the speeds of a Fisher, compared to that of a RIB, and the abilities to easily wakeboard with it! Please help me choose by giving your opinions/ knowledge on the subject! Thanks Dan
