  1. North Haven Yacht Club are celebrating their 50th anniversary by holding a 2 day open week-end on the 21st & 22nd February This is a free event with people from Southern IFCA the RNLI and others. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the day
  2. I have been advised tonight that on Friday 24th may well see the end of Pair trawling in the channel by all nations for Bass Needless to say the French are up in arms about the EU action, they may even block ports in anger - great they aren't out fishing I say! Stay inshore for as long as you like
  3. I have found that Delta anchors have worked for me very well. Found the Bruce copies do need a sharpening of the leading edge now and again to ensure it bites in well as they do get damaged when dragging on the sea bed. I would steer clear of the danforth in this area as it is really more suited for mud/sand Dave
  4. Thanks for the speedy response. Good luck in these cold conditions
  5. Why not go for an inflatable, easy to man handle and when you want to store it just let the air out
  6. Looking good Adam Out of interest are you not going to seal the underside of the flooring? Thought it may rot from the bottom up via condensation or god forbid water ingress. I assume the top will be glassed prior to flowcoating Dave
  7. Good work there guys. Don't like the mains cable join bodge wrapped in black tape however, good job there is no H&S peeps around! Must have been a bit cold out there today, surprised the flow-coat went off ok Keep it up lads
  8. Congratulations I am sure you will enjoy her and I hope you bring some specimen fish over the gunnels Can I also suggest that you have an RNLI safety check carried out. They will do it wherever you live, even at your home. The suggestions they make can be very helpful and there is no pass or fail just good solid advice. Hope to see you out on the water in the spring Dave
  9. I have been out on an Explorer, for some reason I thought there was more room than the Warrior 165, must be the layout is slightly different Good boat, they sold loads but the original company went bust for some reason just before launching a 22ft version that looked the dogs what's it as a dedicated fishing machine. I think the moulds have been sold on to a company in Spain who started to make them again and import them to the UK. If the price was right I would have one. A similar boat was the SeaHog Samurai but is was only 16ft. Check out my old web site for reports on boats http://www.fishing-boats.info/ Dave
  10. I find it strange that they suspect that the guy was steering the boat standing. Having fished off a small dingy previously, the last thing I wanted to do was stand up as you become very unstable, also starting the engine from a pull cord if standing would be at the wrong angle. As Rob suggested I suspect it was hit by something and he was thrown overboard. If he had a lanyard attached to himself and the craft he might have survived longer
  11. Hi Alan This question has been asked before see here http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/ipb/topic/10913-pirate-18-cuddy/ Dave

  13. Note PLEASE register your boat for the 2015 boat species comp if you have not done so already. Any fish caught BEFORE registering WILL NOT COUNT! I did post this before the New Year under the Boat Species thread but thought it best to remind others that might want to join in this friendly comp Dave
  14. Committee Meeting
  15. Mike Perhaps George is willing to give us simple souls some of his newly learnt experience, without giving too much away, at a club meeting to see if we can all improve our catch rate.
  16. Well done to Chris re Kingfisher in winning the Boat Species Comp for 2014 With 45 species is a great score Also well done to Mike re Frisky Fox in getting so close to Chris's score, just goes to show you don't need a fast boat to get the species Sparky & Greg both did well in coming third again close on the heels of Mike's total Dave
  17. I have just received this from SIFCA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear All, I am writing to inform you that Southern IFCA is holding a public Review of Management Measures consultation during January 2015. Happy Christmas

  20. Hi all Just spoken to Neil and due to the wind condition on Sunday the Flounder comp is off (again)! Neal has suggested next Saturday 27th for the Flounder comp We also have a club Cod comp on Sunday 28th which is also Steve Porter's Cod comp as well Lets hope the weather starts to improve Take care out there Dave
  21. Happy birthday Neal Now go out and find a great fish and celebrate
  22. I didn't notice that there was a fish in the picture!
  23. Personally I would agree that the flounder comp remains as is, however I don't see the problem to have a re-run of the Cod comp. To me the ideal time would be over the Xmas break to New Year, I know some may be on holiday or away but I am sure some of us would be only too happy to get out of the house and family for a bit of fresh air and be able to cut down on all the extra food and drink. At the end of the day we all go fishing for a bit of sport and fun, so why not add a special target for that particular day, if no Cod are caught then so be it, but that's fishing. Dave
  24. I had an email from Kevin Mark who has produced a DVD on trout fly fishing I know it is a bit of a sales ad but I thought some people may like something like this as a Christmas pressy. Have a look and make your own mind up Dave -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My name is Kevin Mark, I recently produced a fly-fishing DVD that captured trout underwater chasing the fly and shows trout stalking the fly etc. it's a 1 hour DVD and is being launched in next months issue of various magazines, Trout Fisherman, Total Flyfisher etc. I have added a video showreel to my new website and wondered if you wouldn't mind having a look as i'm getting the word out there to as many people interested in fishing as possible. The website is www.underwatertrout.co.uk
  25. I was out on Kelly's Hero with John, Allan and three of John's mates We managed a similar result Rays = 0 Cod = 0 We did manage some monster pout in which John managed one at 2lb 12oz Allan had a Starry Smoothound at 13.5lb and John also had one at about 10lb We also had some doggies with attitude and one of John's mates had a Conger to 35lb We had had enough of the slop and lack of decent fish so went in early and got back at about 3.30 Good banter on the boat however. Thanks John
