Just to add I have had an email from David Butcher - Harbour Watch: ---------------------------------------------------- Just had an email from a Mr. Martin Green who has seen my messages either by email or from the 3 Facebook postings. He says that he is in hospital recovering from an operation and has just been informed that his all white Mercedes Sprinter van P509 TMA has been stolen from his drive in Bere Regis. It has a refrigeration box fitted. His point being that it is just the sort of van that the engine thieves might use. David --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Retro I would look for one which uses the same fuel as the main engine i.e. 4-stroke or 2-stroke This will save carrying two sorts of fuel and ppossibly getting them mixed up! You will also need to work out if you need a long or short shaft model and if you intend to mount it on the transom next to the main engine or on a bracket on one side. Worth looking on Gumtree or EBay but you need to know what to look for when buying 2nd hand. Popular motors are Mercury/Mariner, Tohatsu who make most of the small 2-stroke engine but they get badged as differant makes. Someone here may have one for sale of course. Dave

Hi Retro Welcome to the forum I would suggest the best thing to do is join the club as you will get loads of help if you need it and just by asking. I too live in Broadstone and would you believe I too moved here from Bedfordshire, good choice! I am the Safety Officer of the club so if you need any help just ask. Our next Club meeting is our AGM which will be on Thursday 3rd April at 8pm We meet upstairs in the Trades and Labour Club in Ashley Road, Parkstone. (Next door to the Esso garage) Hope to see you there if you can make it. Dave

Mike I know IFCA are unwilling to take boats at the moment as they have no storage and they are responsable for the craft whilst under their care, i.e. before a court has made a judgement. If the boat is stolen then that is the responsability of the Police, however many of the people caught, claim the boat is not thiers so until it is proved who the owner is nothing can be done.

I will be there Do you want a lift as I know the venue, it's where we hold AT meetings during the year

Hi James Welcome to the best boat club on the South Coast I am Dave the Safety Officer. Keep an eye on the training thread on the forum as I often post deals of the week for RYA traing. Let me know what training you are looking for and I can arrange it, we get special discount from our buddys at Absolute Aqua as a club member. Keep safe and don't be afraid to ask any questions however simple they may seem, we have a great wealth of knowledge in the club and most members are are only willing to help, the only exception is their special fishing marks! Dave aka Coddy
