    alderney bouy

Just a thought as a cheap alternative is to use a 20ltr or 5 gallon plastic drum/container If you know a local potter/fisherman they might have a spare buoy to sell off. Mail order http://www.gaelforcemarine.co.uk/42126/Polyform-50--A2-Net-Buoys.html?referrer=FROOGLE&gclid=CIHznsz8lb4CFa3LtAod_xwAog Dave
  5. Happy Birthday Charlie Thanks for the good wishes everyone, not able to make tonights meeting as we have a family meal out :-) Dave
  6. Don't get the oil/petrol mix wrong as they don't like it (up em Cpt Mannering) Unless the carb jets have been altered it is normally 10:1 with altered jets you can go to 20:1 or 25:1 If you know the model of your Seagull i.e. serial number I can proberbly give you the jet numbers so you can check if you want. I have a couple of old Seagulls in my shed and they have been used on many occastions. Do keep a couple of spares with the engine Prop spring is a must as is a spark plug You will of course need the tools to fit them. Always leave a little fuel in the tank otherwise the cork fuel tap can dry out and drip There are many good sites for Seagull spares but be wary of some of the imported/cheap copies of parts. Lastly check the oil in the gearbox, they do tend to leak a little and the oil can look a bit milky but don't worry too much, the normal oil is 90sae so quite thick and sticky. Dave
  7. Sam The Wessex AT run a junior comp for the fish of the month, as you will see one of the club's juniors won specimen fish of the year, well done Jacob! Here is a link to the page http://anglingtrustwessex.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Jun-FOM-2009-2014-2.pdf It appears that the form for fish of the month is not on the site for some reason, so I will get one and post it up for you. It would be good to see PBSBAC up there on the winners list, it is not always the biggest fish that wins so any fish is worth an entry. Dave
  8. Hi Norm Welcome to the best club on the South Coast Had a look at your web site and like the article on how to find wrecks with a plotter & fish finder, great info. Tight line Dave
  9. Welcome Garry It was good to meet you at the AGM and as Martin said please we didn't put you off. Sorry to hear about your brother in law hope he is soon on the mend. Regards Dave
  10. Rob You don't weigh common skate as there is a chart where you take the width accross the wings and the length which will convert into weight
  11. Good luck Sam and well done in taking up the challange! My kids wont leave home so no Grandkids yet, not that I am in a hurry for them anyway, I am way too young. Have you thought about the max age of the child? Reason for asking is that there is a huge amount of info at the Wessex Angling Trust and as I am still a committee member there I am happy to get whatever I can to help you in your role. Just let me know and I will do my best for you. Dave

    Warrior 165

Hi Alan Have a look on my website www.fishing-boats.info as I have a number of reports from owners. I started the site after owning a 165, wish I still had her Dave
  13. You get to use one of those extended pick up arms/claws so it reduces the bending down and touching contaminated material. Could be lumps of oil soaked rags etc. Oh, a bin bag as well to put it all in Dave

  15. Charlie I am on Flamer IV email listing and Colin posted this state of play yesterday HI, ALL, During March the anchored fishing on the Reefs and Banks was excellent with good catches of Blonde and Undulate Rays along with plenty of Congers,Bull Huss,Smooth Hounds,Spurdogs and the usual Dogs and Whiting. The flatty fishing has been hard going as yet due to the stirred up and poor water clarity as a result of all the winter storms. How ever the signs are there that the flatty fishing is improving at last and should continue to improve during April. The wreck fishing for Pollack etc has also been a casualty of the winter storms and poor water clarity but as we get some settled weather and improving water clarity I am sure the Pollack ,Ling etc will be there to be caught. Flamer IV Fish of the Month for March was awarded to Trevor Lockyer for his Personal Best 16Ib 8oz Undulate Ray.( 14 different species have been caught on Flamer IV so far in 2014.
  16. Here is your chance to help clean up beaches in Dorset after the storms we have recently experianced. There are meeing places all along the Dorset beaches. 27th April is the date to book in your diaries. Dave GDBC poster 2014.pdf

    Lobster pot

Might find they disapear, the commercial boys like to see whats in them I suspect. Alan J puts a few down I think, but there are restrictions about pots so maybe worth checking the regulations. Dave
