  1. You can read the White Paper by downloading White Paper It's a 176 page document and the bit about licences is on page 121. There is a clear proposal to introduce a Sea Angling Licence. The money raised is to fund:- Improved scientific data to manage fish stocks Protection & provision of shore access and parking Provision of more small boat launching facilities Access to new and existing shore structures Creation of artificial reefs Clear displays of rules & regs at launch sites and aboard charter boats Plus, of course, adminstration, monitoring, inspection!!!!!! There is also a proposal in introduce 'bag limits' on shore anglers and non-commercial anglers fishing for certain species, which IMHO will be p*ssing into the wind when compared to the havoc wreaked by commercial fishermen on fish stocks!!!! Might even come to something this time! Coddy
  2. Would some kind "Admin" person kindly add the comp and other dates to the calendar please. Thanks Coddy
  3. Don't forget it is the first comp on Sunday and Canford Boat Jumble. What to do? what to do? Go fishing me thinks as it is expected to be a nice day Coddy
  4. Well done Charlie, I suppose you will be wanting a Pro-Charter now you have all that experiance in re-building! Nice one matey, glad nearly everything worked out ok for you. Don't forget to flush the engine with fresh water, might have missed that bit on the report. Welcome to the world of boating Coddy
  5. Some nice fish, well done to you both. Coddy
  6. Took Sammy out for a second trip in two days!!!! (brownie points now used up) Bill and I headed East this time to try for some Bream. First stop Poole patch and within minutes of the lines and ground bait going in we were into to fish, not large but around 1lb each and put up a nice scrap. The flood started and the fish switched off, loads of boats around and all seemed to struggle for fish. After an hour or so with hardly anything showing apart from Bill managing to get a Goby of some sort and a Ballan Wrasse, we headed off for Southbourne. We just dropped the pick when PJ turned up so had a quick chat and got stuck into the doggies and again Bill managed to pull out a small whiting! Tme to move again, inshore this time as the sea had started to get an uncomfortable chop on it, but nothing showed so headed back to Poole Patch for the last hour or so but again nothing wanted to play so in and recovered the boat. Nice start to the day but the wind and what tide there was made an uncomfortable chop so a slower ride back in, wtare was quite rough around Sandbanks and the ferry area. Hope others did well. Coddy
  7. Well done to the crew of Nipper! Me thinks I will be following too Coddy

    Go Nurses!!!

A motorcycle patrolman was rushed to the hospital with an inflamed appendix. The doctors operated and advised him that all was well. However, the patrolman kept feeling something pulling at the hairs in his crotch. Worried that it might be a second surgery the doctors hadn't told him about, he finally got enough energy to pull his hospital gown up enough so he could look at what was making him so uncomfortable. Taped firmly across his pubic hair were three wide strips of adhesive tape, the kind that doesn't come off easily. Written in large black letters was the sentence. "Get well soon..... from the nurse in the jeep you pulled over last week." Coddy
  10. Suggest you go to Halfords as they offer a 3 year no quibble guantee, as long as you have the receipt although it is not essential, so if you have a problem it gets replaced FOC. Happened to me when one cell went dead after 2 years! Go for at least 85amp/hr or larger if poss, say it is for a diesel engine as they have a higher cranking capacity. Coddy

    Boat Storage

Hi all Had to go to a caravan centre to buy a new gas cylinder for the BBQ and saw a notice advertising boat, caravans etc. storage. Thought it might be useful to post on the forum as a number of people do ask about this. Not sure on prices as you will have to call them. Coddy
  12. Well done Adam, seems you had a good day Good to hear the new boat is not too thirsty Coddy
  13. Hi Mike I used a whole squid and chunk of macky on a single circle hook. Fortunatly the ebb tide had just started as I was using my uptide rod, still put a good bend in it! Coddy
  14. Went out in Sammy from Poole, headed West first stop we tried for Bream but no takers only doggies, then headed off towards Dancing Ledge again no bites so went off again off St.Albans head, just after the tide turned I managed to get into something solid and after a while a nice Underlate Ray of 18lbs popped into the landing net. Again more doggies but then the tide started to rush through so we headed inshore to get out of it but nothing more came onto feed. Final stop just in Swanage Bay but again nothing wanted to play so we called it a day and recovered the boat. Nice to be out albeit chilly for the first few hours until the sun came out to warm us up. Pictures to follow when I get them sent to me from Bill my crewman. Hope others did well today. Coddy

    Flywheel

Totally agree with Mike, hold the flywheel and "tap" the flywheel nut when it is partly undone. NEVER NEVER NEVER USE A PULLER on the flywheel. I have repaired and maintained a number of Seagulls and never had a problem with the flywheel coming off. However if you do have a problem let me know and perhaps we can meet and I will give you a hand. It is most unusal to have to replace points as they can be filed flat very easily. Point gap is 20 thou or 0.5mm & plug gap is 35 thou or 0.9mm Regards Coddy
  16. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to both of you. May all you wish for come true this year (for fishing only) Coddy

    Photo

For those who want to store or transfer photo's this site is free http://photobucket.com/ and very easy to use. In fact all you have to do is copy the file name or url as given under each picture and it always works, great! Coddy
  21. Hi KK If you have a trailer similar to Indespension they do a special adaption called a sand skipper I think. Basicly it uses your spare road wheel which folds down as a third wheel to pushing over sand etc. Many people use this as a spare hub assy in case they have a bearing failure on the trailer. Not sure of costs but if you have a word with them I am sure they will advise. Coddy
  22. I was informed on Friday that to fish the Shambles you do need clear water for it to fish at its best. Stormy state and cloudy water and you may well waste your time! Coddy
  23. Hi Gordon Depends on make but the Navman use a plastic version see here http://www.plastimo.com/pdf/NAVMAN_accesso..._Guide_2007.pdf page 27 for VHF spares Coddy
  24. I was booked on a trip on Flamer 3 out of Weymouth on Friday for a speices hunt. First we headed out East to a wreck for a few drifts but nothing showed, we then went around Portland and tried for wrasse which duly came out to play. After a while we then headed off towards M3 sub wreck and managed to start to bring fish on board. Our last move was closer inshore near chesil cove and again fish started to come aboard. In all we had Ballan Wrasse, Pollock, poor cod, bull huss, pout, some large whiting, black goby and doggies of course. A good day out with good banter. Jim Whippy was on board taking shots so might even see a picture of me! Coddy
  25. Managed to get Sammy out on Saturday for the first time since before Christmas! Launched from Poole but arrived too early, as there was insufficient water on the slip, but by the time we had rigged up the rods etc. we had sufficient water to launch. On the way through the inner harbour we were hailed by a charter skipper who asked if we could help. It seemed that the diesel pump spring had failed and he was getting no fuel to the engine. All he needed was a tow to his pontoon mooring. This we managed to do with a bit more luck than judgement due to the wind but I was impressed how easily the 165 pulled and pushed a heavy charter boat. The guy offered payment which we declined as I said I might need him one day! We then motored off using the last few days of no speed limit in the harbour. We headed East and stopped on Poole patch but seemed we were in doggie land, heaviest of 1.75lb, interestingly, there seemed a large number of whelks attaching themselves to Bill's line not the hook but the line itself, don't know what that means if anything. The wind started to increase and we rocked about a bit but eventually gave up and headed inshore for a bit of shelter. Whilst it was more comfortable no fish wanted to play so we thought we would try the swash for plaice. AWOL came up to see how we were doing but nothing was playing for us. Went in the harbour to give a last try for flounder for the last hour but nothing showed. Recovered the boat and went home. Good to get out at last but look forward to more spring-like weather. Coddy
