Just dont all do it on the day I go - their aint that much room!

The box was about the size of a toaster.

Thanks for the photo Mike. Now a few open questions to the floor re. Cuba The things that put me off slightly having done a little research... - Quite alot of reviews give the rooms as dated, smelly, dirty etc?? - No resturants on the Cayos - only the hotels, food reported as just average in many cases? - Apart from fishing and sun bathing - little else to do? Finally - is it possible to Bonefish the flats without a guide? Cheers

Becks, They work on water pressue, which is created by water mving over the plates - in theory the faster the water moves over the plates the greater the pressue and hence the lifting effect. When surfing a following sea, whilst the boat will be going fast the water under the boat will also, meaning I guess, that the tabs will generally be down - but it all depends on the indiviual situation. I havent tried them yet (too windy) but all the reviews and forums I have readt rave about them - as I am only moderatly powered I'm confident they will help. Adam

Sorry Kam you've completely lost me.... anyway - you would never get a Warrior 165 for

The cheap one on Ebay - same as the ones made by a club member, as you say you can slip it on and off easily. I cant understand anyone paying

12x9" with 60lb were the correct one for the boat and engine. It is also what Warrior fitted in this months BFM. 165's can be heavy old beasts!

We will be trying again this Sunday for a trip to the Shambles - but I must say that things arnt looking good on the long range again - pretty much like today for as long as the forecast can see - fingers crossed for a break. Timings will be as usual - Ill post more here if and when it looks like a goer. Adam

Easy Terry. Assemble takes 10 mins. Bolting to the transom takes 20 mins max. The instructions are spot on. I didnt like the look of the foam sealing strip so used Sikaflex instead - also dont worry if the brackets and mounts arnt symetrical - the units are not 'handed' so they wont match - critical thing is same distance from the chines each side and the 25 deg mounting angle - but a template is supplied. Let me know if you need any advice. I'm out Mon / Tues for a quick test run - will post findings.

Mark, You are correct, however it was put off by the comittee, not because it was a bad idea, but because 1.) The committee are busy enough with the current list of comps, 2.) Not toos ure what the take up would be and 3.) it is likey only to appeal to a small group of anglers. Personally I love fishing in the evening after work - but not comp. fishing - I like a few hour relaxing bassing or congering - comp fishing is hard work - the prep, the constant moving etc. That siad I may fish a couple if someone else organises it. I suggest you monitor the take up on here and then put a series together if you see fit. Adam

Just a quick straw poll. I have 3 places for a trip to Scotland next year after Common Skate. We would be fishing from boat like our trailer section for 4 days. Plan is to fly to Glasgow, on a cheapy flight from Southampton, pick up a hire car and drive the 3 hours to Oban, where we meet the guys. You will need a pair of 50lb rods and matched reels and the other kit associated with this type of fishing. Accomidation is self catering, and pretty basic. As I say I only have three places so I just need initial intrest. If I get loads I may have to think of a faor way of picking places??... Likey to be June - August ish time. Adam

Mad Mike - our very own stand-up!! Absolute quality.!

Very self righteous isn't he! Personally I don't think I have ever seen a single fish on my sonar...but then I don't have a Furuno LS122XCV whatever.....! I had a picture in my mid of him buzzing over the surface at 60 knots and then spotting a single flounder on the bottom, before whacking the boat into neutral throwing the crew to the floor before they all angle for this ellusive fish he has seen!! I use mine to check Im not going to hit the bottom in the run and for checking the bottom contours - never for 'finding fish'

Blimey!....you can tell you you havent been out in a while, what a heated debate this one is!! For what its worth, I have never bothered with loops at any end - instead I just have plain ended rope to serve a multitude of purposes - my favorite fixing? a couple of 'figures of eight' with a half hitch on the top - had served me fine. KISS basically.....

Long range forecast not looking too bright for Sunday - as usual this time of year... 18-22 knots SE at present according to Windguru.

Currently the perspex windows on BW are sat on a bed of sikaflex and bolted about every 6" with cheese head nylon machine screws and bolts. When I replace them I obviously have the oppertunity to improve on this set up if I can - my line of thinking is to make it a little more streamlined and aesthetically pleasing. Thinking along the lines of 1.) Just sikaflex (maybe not enough?) or 2.) Sikaflex AND bolts, but moving to countersunk heads to smooth the lines. SO... Is it ok to use countersunk heads with polycarbonate, I have heard rumours that they can cause stress cracks. I was thinking of over sizing the holes and not nipping them up too tightly?? If so where can I find black M6 20mm countersunk nylon machine screws? Thanks Adam

Reversing is apparently not a problem with them as far as I can tell. Steve - new boat, pray do tell....a Pro Angler is it? Yes, they will clutter the transom, but I already have 2 transducers, a fixed step and a 500 GPH livebait pump on there and they cause no problems, so what the hell - anyway if they help the boats performance its something I can live with. I haven't bought them to stop porpoising - I don't suffer this. The 60 4/ I have struggles with 3 up or when the live tank is full to hit the hole shot quickly - OK with 2, but no 3....so I want it to help this, also the help with a slight list I get from having bigger crew than my slight 12 stone .... They arrive tomorrow, so will be fitted Weds. Adam

The BFM article - whack the fish in the barrel, cover in salt and leave in the liquor. Trev, I have a pair of pots on order for the summer and would love to try a bit of bait. Im also considering how easy a basic home made pot would be - the ones on order are

Tragic. As a few have said - not really the kit to be wearing when offshore at night in a F7-8, no life jacket either, just a horseshoe ring. Having spent 20 Min's in the sea at Horsea a few weeks ago clothed in 18mm of wetsuit - I can testify to just how cold it can be - beyond belief, and that is in sheltered water. Easy with benefit of hindsight though as many of us know. Adam

Rich, He isnt a long liner - just a netsman. Long lining is illegal I think....

My tell tale jet is the same power when using a hose as to when sucking it from the water - pretty powerful, would jet about 6'.

The bank is about a mile long and 1/2 mile deep, as Tom says it is marked by two cardinal buoys at the West and East ends. When the tide is running the overfalls aorund the edges show the bank wonderfuly. If you are still struggling for the numbers Ill have a look, but it really is easy to find.
